Supreme Court throws out Kevin McCarthy's lawsuit against Nancy Pelosi over Covid-19 voting rules

Source: Raw Story

The Supreme Court of the United States on Monday rejected a lawsuit that House Republican Leader Kevin McCarthy (CA) brought against Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA).

McCarthy and House Republicans sued Pelosi last year over a proxy voting system that was put in place due to Covid-19.

The court said that the lawsuit was rejected because it is an internal legislative matter that can’t be challenged in court.

Republicans, including Rep. Elise Stefanik (NY), have used the proxy voting system.

Internal House/Senate rules have always been held as non-judiciable. Why would this be any different?

If the Repukes win in the Fall, they're free to change the rules next Congress. Which of course, you know they will...regardless of whether the threat of COVID-19 has subsided. They'll put people's (for them, meaning Democratic) lives at risk, just because the've made the pandemic a political issue, and can't back off of their stupid position.

McCarthy didn't file out of ignorance; he filed to make a scene, to gum up the works. He filed in bad faith.

The average person does not know everything about everything. We hire mechanics to fix our cars, doctors to perform operations, and lawyers to handle legal matters. We also hire (elect) people to run our government and pass legislation. Of course, a large percentage of people should know more about government than they do, but we would hope that at least our elected officials know.

McCarthy has been in congress for sixteen years. You'd think he'd have learned by now. It is his full-time job.

Seems like a silly-ass issue for the Supreme Court to waste their time on.

Also, McCarthy is a silly ass.

No doubt the justices see this as a waste of some law clerk's time. The Supreme Court simply is NOT going to meddle in House rules.

A bunch of people who also do not understand government elected him. It's mind-numbing how little people actually know about how their government works. Or who/what it is that makes up the government. The one that makes me literally want to hit myself in the head with a hammer, and I've heard it right here on DU as well, "Dems now control all three branches of government".

HER Proxy system expands voting rights for All congress critters, unlike the deplorables who want to take them away. And that it's more likely to be a deplorable who needs the expanded rights than a DEM because the deplorable is too F'ing invested in contrarian behavior to be capable of rational thought.
