Alex Jones met with 1/6 committee and says he pleaded the Fifth 'almost 100 times'

Source: CNN

CNN)Right-wing conspiracy theorist Alex Jones met virtually on Monday with the House select committee investigating the January 6 insurrection, he announced on his podcast.

A source familiar with the investigation also confirmed the meeting to CNN.

"I just had a very intense experience being interrogated by the January 6 committee," Jones said on his podcast on Monday. "They were polite, but they were dogged."

Jones said that, by his lawyer's count, he pleaded the Fifth Amendment "almost 100 times," and that he was told to do "on advice of counsel."

He claims he wanted to answer the questions but was afraid of being accused of purjery.

I mean, TFG basically said it, but it's true that people don't need to plead the 5th unless they are aware of some type of crime.

From a legal perspective we can't assess guilt or innocence.

From a poltical perspective though, we can make assessments about an unwillingness to answer questions. Jones is just one of the many fascist cowards surrounding the GOP.

calling "false flag" on the Sandy Hook murders of all those little babies. He may have not literally killed them, himself, but he kept the pain going for waaay too long -- just to keep his followers buying the joy juice he was selling.

about what he thinks 'pleading the 5th' means.

Didn't he say something about 'guilty'?

So by count now - how many of the people that appeared before the 1/6 committee have pleaded the 5th?

Why would he be afraid of that, unless he actually lied? (Rhetorical question)

To translate what he was saying from Tinfoil-hat-speak (I had to use Google Translate*): What he was really saying there is that he knows he was lying and knows they had the goods on him. Therefore, he pled the 5th. Then he lied to his fans about the whole thing on his podcast, Tinfoil Wars.

*Note: Google Translate even had a hard time with some of the conspiracy BS, so I had to guess and extrapolate.

It's his right, and for good reason, but he can't say at once he's squeaky clean and in need of protection from certain indictment in the same breath. He doesn't have to testify that he's a criminal, and he didn't.

You always plead the fifth amendment. Nothing you say will help you, but it can only be used against you in a criminal procedure.
