Delaware lifting indoor mask mandate Friday; school mask requirement expires end of March

Source: WPVI-TV

WILMINGTON, Delaware (WPVI) -- Delaware Governor John Carney will lift the state's indoor mask mandate at the end of the week while a mask requirement for schools will expire at the end of March.

"We're in a much better place than we were several weeks ago in the middle of the Omicron surge of COVID-19 cases and hospitalizations," Governor Carney said in a statement.

Carney signed a revision to the State of Emergency order on Monday which will end Delaware's universal indoor mask mandate at 8 a.m. on Friday, February 11.

At the same time, the governor temporarily extended the mask requirement in public and private K-12 schools and child care facilities.

putting the 'cart before the horse'. How about incenting the school system participants to get to an x% vaccination rate before lifting the mask mandate...as in 'horse before the cart'? Otherwise known as letting scientific facts determine policy.

Omicron cases have dropped a lot, so maybe opening back up will work. Of course, now we hear of an Omicron sub-variant. Hopefully it won't wreak havoc. Everyone is tired.

I'll bet we end up with an annual Covid booster, like the flu. Fine by me, but it's a damn shame that almost a million Americans have died, many because of the anti-mask idiots.

It will be like coming out of a dark period.

Additionally, it will take the wind out of the sails of discord among antivaccers. This will leave the GOP scrambling for a new 'wedge issue' for November.
