On the backend, it tracks every single move you make, not only on fb, and sells that to hundreds if not thousands of others. We are the product.
One day I got in the weeds on my Facebook account and found where they had sold my data and to whom. There were thousands of transactions including too many right wing organizations.

I’m on there for work.

You might just be surprised.

Their data protection regulations put us to shame, as they do what we should have done from the start.

And other countries take note...You will be expected to fall in line with every demand from these corporations and would-be gods of automation.

Wal-Mart found that out in Germany and left after a few years once they realized they could not engage in their predatory business practices. They threatened to leave and Germany said 'Bye-Bye'.

And that other countries follow the EU's lead.

The reality? Nothing will change. Everyone will threaten. Nothing will happen. And the billionaires win again.

Mon Feb 7, 2022, 09:59 PM

The OP quote mentions "source code control files", which simply does not make sense in this context. The same paragraph from the CNBC article seems to have the correct definition of SCCs:

If a new transatlantic data transfer framework is not adopted and we are unable to continue to rely on SCCs (standard contractual clauses) or rely upon other alternative means of data transfers from Europe to the United States, we will likely be unable to offer a number of our most significant products and services, including Facebook and Instagram, in Europe.”

Standard Contractual Clauses makes sense.

We’re Fine Without Facebook, German and French Ministers Say

By William Horobin and Zoe Schneeweiss
February 7, 2022, 11:58 AM EST

Meta Platforms Inc.’s veiled threat to quit Europe because of blocked talks over privacy rules was more like music to the ears of two top German and French politicians.

“After being hacked I’ve lived without Facebook and Twitter for four years and life has been fantastic,” German Economy Minister Robert Habeck told reporters at an event alongside French Finance Minister Bruno Le Maire in Paris on Monday.

“I can confirm that life is very good without Facebook and that we would live very well without Facebook,” Le Maire added. “Digital giants must understand that the European continent will resist and affirm its sovereignty.”

The pair were responding to comments in Meta’s annual report published Thursday, warning that if it couldn’t rely on new or existing agreements to shift data, then it would “likely be unable to offer a number of our most significant products and services, including Facebook and Instagram, in Europe.”
