"Dark Shadows,' 'Lethal Weapon' actor Mitchell Ryan dies

Source: Associated Press

today

LOS ANGELES (AP) — Mitchell Ryan, who played a villainous general in the first “Lethal Weapon” movie, a ruthless businessman on TV’s “Santa Barbara” and had character roles on the soap opera “Dark Shadows” and the 1990s sitcom “Dharma & Greg,” died Friday. He was 88.

Ryan died of congestive heart failure at his Los Angeles home, his stepdaughter, Denise Freed, told the Hollywood Reporter.

Rugged, granite-jawed and sporting a sleek mane of hair, Ryan was instantly recognizable on TV and the big screen. His career spanned more than a half-century, beginning with an uncredited role in the 1958 Robert Mitchum film “Thunder Road.”

Jim Carrey's character, who is supernaturally prevented from lying, tells some uncomfortable and embarrassing truths about Ryan's character, the law firm's CEO. Ryan's character thinks it's a team-building roast, and bursts out laughing, and offers Carrey's character a promotion.

problems behind him and had a great career. "Dark Shadows" (for younger members, the 1960's TV series, not the hideous 2000's movie) had a great team. Most are gone now.

I never understood how Depp, a fan of the show who wanted to play Barnabas, would make such a bastardization of the original DS.

And the original Barnabas, Quentin & Angelique should have had more than that tiny 1-second cameo.

OH No.

OBTH, I see that he's that photo with Lee Marvin. Lee Marvin just happens to be buried next to my great uncle Joe Louis in Arlington National Cemetery.
