Ukraine reports Russians trying to storm Mariupol plant

Source: AP

By DAVID KEYTON and YESICA FISCH

KYIV, Ukraine (AP) — An advisor to Ukraine’s presidential office says Russian forces are attacking a steel plant that is the last defense stronghold of Ukrainian forces in the strategic port city of Mariupol.

Oleksiy Arestovich, an advisor to the head of Ukraine’s presidential office, said during a briefing on Saturday that the Russian forces have resumed air strikes on Azovstal and were trying to storm it.

“The enemy is trying to completely suppress resistance of the defenders of Mariupol in the area of Azovstal,” Arestovich said.

Arestovich’s statement came two days after Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu reported to President Vladimir Putin that the whole of Mariupol, with the exception of Azovstal, had been “liberated” by the Russians.

military commanders who knew better were ordered by civilian politicians to send their people into bloody meat grinders when time and the elements could have done the job for them with limited casualties.

It is not the successor to the Soviet Union. A mistake has been made.

The proper member of the Security Council should be recognized as Ukraine.

Then the UN would actually work.

Have membership on a rotating basis. The only way to change this in the UN Charter, however, is if the security council unanimously agrees to it, so that will never happen.

They're not abiding by the UN Charter. That's grounds for expulsion.

Plus, I figured Putin was lying making his public statement they are done fighting in Mariupol and to just seal them in.

Take no notice. Nothing to see here. We all knew waiting for them to come out was all a lie. Bloodthirsty pigs! But waiting for them to come out delays the rest of their operation to consolidate their operation in the Donbas.

south border region. I hate to see this monster regime getting away with this, NATO will have to deal with putin sooner or later.

Five people have been killed and eighteen injured in a missile strike in the southern Ukrainian port city of Odesa on Saturday, the president’s chief of staff Andriy Yermak said.

Ukraine’s air command said earlier that two missiles struck a military facility and two residential buildings in Odesa. Air defence destroyed two other missiles that were also targeting the city, according to its online statemen
