Feds interview deadly supermarket shooting suspect's parents

BUFFALO, N.Y. (AP) — Federal agents interviewed the parents of the white 18-year-old accused of shooting and killing 10 people at a Buffalo supermarket and served multiple search warrants, a law enforcement official told The Associated Press on Sunday.

Federal authorities were still working to confirm the authenticity of a 180-page manifesto that was posted online, which detailed the plot and identified Payton Gendron by name as the gunman, the official said. Authorities say the shooting was motivated by racial hatred.

Gendron’s parents were cooperating with investigators, the official said. The official was not authorized to discuss details of the investigation into the Saturday afternoon shooting publicly and spoke to AP on condition of anonymity.

A preliminary investigation found Gendron had repeatedly visited sites espousing white supremacist ideologies and race-based conspiracy theories and extensively researched the 2019 mosque shootings in Christchurch, New Zealand, and the man who killed dozens at a summer camp in Norway in 2011, the official said.

He made it acceptable to be public about it. The more people went public with their racism, the more they felt they were part of an ascendant wave.

They are still a small minority of the population, but believe they are becoming the majority. It makes them feel empowered to harm others. We must speak up forcefully to disabuse them of that notion.

is a sizable minority. I was reading in a paper this morning more white rights bullshit. A black firefighter who moved up the ranks in 30 years of service got the job as chief. A white firefighter from another city was in the running. He was NOT more qualified than the firefighter chosen for chief. The white firefighter got pissed and retained a lawyer from a very racist area. That lawyer was more than able in this day and time to make the white man a victim.

All I have to say is white people have always had ALL rights guaranteed in this democracy. So the settlement this clown got for discrimination IS BULLSHIT. Whites have rights for sure but 60 million want to take the hard-won rights of POC and women away...again. Blacks back to the field, women...back to the kitchen and stay there...pregnant.

As a vet poisoned by my service to this country. I'm pissed.

In this respect he's just like Hitler. Before Hitler plenty of Germans hated Jews and blamed them for all sorts of things. After WWI Germany was sent into an economic depression that made ours look like a garden party. Germans blamed anyone and everyone for their plight and longed for the "good old days" when Germany was respected. Does any of this sound familiar? There's a reason that Trump has so much support in the rust belt.

Hitler among other things was a brilliant con-man, as is Trump. Hitler used the anger and hate the Germans had to fuel his rise to power the exact same way Trump has done it. The hate will not go away, it never does but the big question is if we can put the genie back in the bottle before we end up like Germany under Hitler.
