3 high school graduations across the U.S. end with gunfire in less than 24 hours
By Marlene Lenthang

Three high school graduation ceremonies ended with shots fired in separate incidents in Louisiana, Michigan and Tennessee within the span of 24 hours, another sobering example of gun violence impacting everyday lives, including that of teenage students.

After students crossed stages to receive their diplomas, chaos ensued with gunfire.

At least one person was killed and seven others injured in collective shootings that resulted in the arrest of a 17-year-old gunman in Tennessee.

Nothing will be done until GOPer congress critters lose loved ones to gun violence, they'll only open their eyes if they are personally affected.

They don't change their stance even personally getting shot at (that Scalise guy that got shot in a baseball event a few years ago). He still holds as horrible stance on gun as he was before he got shot.

If your young enough to kill, you should be young enough for everyone to know who it was. I’m not saying all crimes. Just shooting. Not sure why we should protect their identity.

face the social outcry. If you are old enough to own a gun and shoot people you are old enough to go to jail.

They love the publicity, the Buffalo shooter started a Discord server and invited people to watch him livestream.

Fear. Power. All through attention.

No, let's not ID them publicly. I loved that the 18-year-old perpetrator in Buffalo wasn't named until several paragraphs in. That's a positive change in a very bad situation.

In one case, there was a fight and a 3rd person shot one of the fighters. They didn't want renown, they wanted him down.

In another, gunfire was being exchanged between two cars. Perhaps those swapping lead wanted to be locally known, but that they'd get by word of mouth, not CNN.

It's unclear that the third--where the shooter was caught and over 18, and none of the students were as of the source story's writing thought implicated in the shooting (as intended victim or as intended victimizer)--was interested in notoriety.

Local guys fighting local struggles.

No Name. No Photo. No Notoriety.

IT’S A MATTER OF PUBLIC SAFETY

The quest for notoriety and infamy is a well known motivating factor in rampage mass killings and violent copycat crimes. In an effort to reduce future tragedies, we CHALLENGE THE MEDIA – calling for RESPONSIBLE MEDIA COVERAGE FOR THE SAKE OF PUBLIC SAFETY when reporting on individuals who commit or attempt acts of rampage mass violence thereby depriving violent like minded individuals the media celebrity and media spotlight they so crave.

We shouldn't have to live this way. I am 82 and was looking forward to enjoying their high school days with them. They seem to be able to block out stuff trying to deal with their own lives in their own way. A noose was found hanging a doorway to one of their classrooms last month. Their school has a very diverse student body and they are very popular with their classmates. But this incident shook their innocence to the core. Now they have a sad, but purposeful look in their eyes as the venture out to school. RATS!! I hate the MAGAs!!!!

Toxic combination we've decided is just the price of freedom.

Saturating the nation in firearms was a really bad idea, and we did it to ourselves (well, I didn't, but American politics did).
