San Francisco archbishop denying Pelosi Communion over abortion rights

Source: Washington Post

The Rev. Salvatore J. Cordileone, the Catholic archbishop of San Francisco, said Friday that House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) will be denied the sacrament of Holy Communion because of her vocal support for abortion rights.
The edict from Cordileone, one of the country’s most conservative Catholic leaders, represents an extraordinary rebuke of Pelosi’s Catholic faith, which the 82-year-old speaker frequently invokes when discussing her family, her policies and her politics.
Democrats and abortion rights advocates have responded with alarm in recent weeks following the leak of a draft Supreme Court opinion that would overturn the right to abortion established in the landmark Roe v. Wade decision. Cordileone last year called for Communion to be withheld from public figures who support abortion rights but did not mention Pelosi by name at the time.

The Roman Catholic Church is a disgusting Nazi organization. I'm never happier I left religion behind than when I see stories like this. I used to be Catholic. I always understood that the Eucharist is a matter between the communicant and his or her conscience. The priest or person distributing communion should be literally blindfolded. This archbishop is an ass.

I left the Church at 18 after having gone through two incidents with not one, but with 2 'overly handsy' Catholic priests in the late 1970's. And of course, here it is all these decades later and they're still playing "Let's play hide and seek" with the latest Catholic priest accused of child molestation: In the PRESENT. Hell, I've seen a Catholic priest kissing a black Nun in the rectory when I was sent to the church with a box of booklets for the weekend mass that were supposed to be put into the pews for Saturday. They never saw me though. I told my friends about it (They were the type of people who never would tell anyone else) and we all used to talk about it and watch them together in church, or whenever we saw them drive off in the school's station-wagon together wondering WHERE they were going, and wondering what they were going to DO. A year or so later when our little group were Juniors, some of us found out from another Sister who told us in the strictest confidence that both of them left the order/faith in the summer of 1978. Whether they got together or not, I've not ever been able to find out or establish what happened to them both 'officially' after they left the church. I must say that they were a very attractive 'couple' if they did get together

Friends in their 70's who were sexually assaulted/molested by Catholic priests at the various catholic middle schools that they went to when they were young children--still sob on the phone as we speak to each other, trying to get PAST the crap of our tortured youth. SMDH.

Then they can relinquish their tax exempt status.

But what this man has done is despicable. Faith is not a political football to lob at people to score cheap points. This man did NOT do this with His Holiness, The Pope's blessing, you can be assured of that.

There is no scientific evidence that legal safe abortions harm people, society or humankind.

This insane idea that every human zygote must be brought to birth 10 months later (Yeah, it's 40 weeks of pregnancy not 36 weeks, they even minimize and lie about that.) Is all about a magical being in the sky. The zygote must be birthed crowd demands it even at the expense, suffering and possible death or suicide of the human being carrying the zygote. They are forcing their religious convictions even on us athiests.

So our entire country is forced to jail, harass, abuse and destroy people so that zygote can be forced into birth. All for religion's sake. Why do people still believe in this god crap?

Why do I have to follow some stupid god law that I don't even believe in? Where is my athiest freedom? Religion is a bad and destructive force. Whatever happened to the separation of church and state?

He has taken a strong stand that no one should be denied the Host because of their political stand. A while back a priest denied Joe the sacrament at a church service and the American bishops backed up the priest till the Pope stepped in and called Joe a "good Catholic".

Oh, I have no problem with Catholics. If I did, I'd never have lived in Irish Boston or the Hispanic southwest. It's those old boys running the show that I can't stand, the ones who can't tell the difference between church dogma and civil law. The RCC has always been like that.

lets really get serious about this "church"......

-snip-

"When the Native Americans rebelled, which they did on at least two occasions, their rebellions were put down in brutal fashion. When Native American women were caught trying to abort babies conceived through rape, the mission fathers had them beaten for days on end, clamped them in irons, had their heads shaved and forced them to stand at the church altar every Sunday carrying a painted wooden child in their arms."

I don’t get why people can’t hold two thoughts in their brain at the same time.

It’s not that they can’t, but have been politically indoctrinated to not.

When everything is black-and-white, nothing is really black nor white. And that’s the goal of misinformation—to see black as white and white as black. To see up as down and down as up. To see left as right and right as left.

To see insurrectionists as patriots and patriots as insurrectionists.
