Texas school shooter bought 2 rifles after turning 18, carried out Robb Elementary attack days later
Source: ABC-7 Los Angeles
alvador Ramos, the suspect in the Texas elementary school shooting, after turning 18 on May 16, legally purchased two rifles and carried out the second-worst school shooting in U.S. history within the span of eight days, according to multiple law enforcement officials. The suspect purchased two AR-15-style rifles on May 22, two days before the massacre and six days after his birthday, multiple law enforcement officials told ABC News. They were legal purchases. At least 19 children and two teachers were killed at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, about 90 minutes west of San Antonio, authorities said. Ramos, a student at Uvalde High School, is also dead. Once the shooter made entry into a classroom he barricaded himself and opened fire, according to the sources. 1. It's looking more and more like this Ramos guy had no "red flags," really.
He kept most of his plans to himself.

2. Here's a red flag, a just turned 18 year old
came into a gun store and purchased 2 military style guns and presumably ammo for the same. Somewhere down the line he purchased body armor. The stores at the very minimum should have to report these sales to law enforcement so they are aware and can check on this guy and look into his behavior both in person and online.

25. I think the process
of buying a gun should allow for a 7 or 14 day waiting period. None of this walk in and walk out 10 minutes later with a gun, or an AR 15 type anyhow..........

An Army buddy of mine pointed out that one of the rifles is a high end model, around $1800-1900 itself.

11. Oh yeah I know
but was thinking that assuming he had pre-planned this, then he probably wouldn't bother spending the time to accessorize it into a high-end model with scope capability, etc., knowing he eventually wouldn't use them ever again.

34. There were 2 bought
and I am not into gun porn to see if they were both identical.
But my original remark stands about where the hell did an 18 year old with a fast-food job,get the $$$ (other than perhaps magically having a credit card or cards that I would think would have been maxed after that, although perhaps some of the money and/or the card could have been his grandmother's, which seems more likely). I heard on the radio this morning that one of the tip-over points may have been an argument that he had with his grandmother about a cell phone bill and that is when he shot her and headed out. |

20. I saw some of the stories yesterday
from his co-workers who considered him "creepy". But then I also saw some stories about him being "bullied", was living with his grandmother, had a big argument with her, and them apparently snapped, killing her on the way to go slaughter others.
That type of thing seemed to mirror what happened with Adam Lanza with the Sandy Hook shooting, where he killed his mother on the way to do his own slaughter. So this is one of the issues that is continually brought up where you have highly volatile and depressed people who are actually able to easily obtain weapons to "get their frustrations out of their system", and being able to use an "assault style weapon" just increases the number who become victims (vs doing it with a knife or machete or ax or even a revolver type gun). ![]() I also heard on the radio news at the top of the hour, where he supposedly posted what he was going to do on his Facebook page. |

21. Yes, he had posted on Facebook.
There were pictures of him with the guns he bought. Then he posted that he was going to kill his grandmother and his mother. I’ve not hear anything about the mother. Then he posted that he HAD shot his grandmother.
He did not have a driver’s license. I suppose he could have had a DPS ID card, but I want to know who sold him the guns. |

22. From what I heard about his mother
was that she basically had so many issues and arguments with her that his grandmother took him in.
I am actually surprised that someone his age was even using Facebook because that age group thinks it's "old people's" social media (or as my nieces and nephews consider it). ![]() |

What I read said Facebook. But can’t Instagram interact with Facebook? I see the same stuff on both a lot of time. There were reports that he was also on TikTok.

24. I think Facebook owns Instagram (and WhatsApp)
It's just like how Google bought YouTube.
I don't have any accounts on "social media" but have an uncle (my mother's baby brother) who will be 79 this year and who got hooked into Facebook as his means to "communicate" with his old neighborhood and school buddies, and he'll forward memes and jokes and recipes to them (and to me, his kids, and my other cousins). ![]() And I did see some news reports that posted images of some of his texts to people he knew who were apparently bugging out at his out-of-nowhere self-aggrandizing comments. |

7. What would a person do if they had concerns?
We adopted 3 out of the TX foster system. The younger 2 are doing well, they have issues, but the oldest is off the rails.
He ran off constantly and was in acute psychiatric treatment about 15 times saying he wanted to kill himself before we found out about residential treatment. He has been in and out of those for the last 3 years. He has suicidal thoughts, impulsive behavior, self-harms, treats people as objects of entertainment, acts out sexually (without emotional attachment), had aggressive outbursts. He has already said he wants to return to one residential location and be known as the >>>@@@ shooter. Right now the place he is in wants him gone and we are scrambling to get insurance approval for another round. He will be 18 in 14 months. Our only plan right now is to give him a bus ticket back to TX for his 18th and move in the opposite direction. We're desperate and stuck. |

15. Meds aren't helping. He's in a lot of pain, but current treatment models focus on "behavioral
modification" I describe him as a cauldron of hurt, and no one wants to fix what's there and he tries to not let them. So only what bubbles over is looked at.
And not entirely selfless, we had no kids of our own. But it is still different and they are draining us. Especially since my wife's cancer diagnosis (seriously). |

He had to be escorted from class to class by the school resource officer in middle school. That's the only reason they sent him on to high school. He attended a total of 2.5 days.

31. Ok, we have considered having him listed as "disabled" which might give more services,
but still not what he needs. Partly because our state would pay for continued care if he was adopted here, but not TX. If he is listed as disabled, we could be responsible for him up to age 25 or longer.
Sadly we don't really have any relationship with him. He was only in our home for about a year and the problems have destroyed any feelings we had for him other than care for another human. So he won't be living close to us. We feel he should have warnings tattooed on him because he's also a date rape case waiting to happen. |

If the age was at least 21 these incidents might not have happened. And don’t get me started on Rittenhouse and Crumbley murderers who were both under 18 and allowed to get a gun by their parents.

Truckers protested masks, parents yell at school board members because of masks, people are taught to be angry when kids learn about homosexuality, teaching about slavery causes angry outbursts.
Guns killing little children in school, does anyone care. Our country does not. Republican in the White house = more guns, Democrat in the White house = more guns. Does anyone care... we are all under the gun. |

35. Apparently not.
Some non GQP's give impassioned speeches, but in the end you're right. More guns. Shooting outrage gives way to the next disaster until another shooting then the few speeches and outrage for a few days.
Rinse, repeat. It definitely means ultimately that no one in power cares. |
