U.S. House Rep. Lauren Boebert wins Republican primary in District 3

Source: Colorado Public Radio

Rep. Lauren Boebert was named the Republican winner in the U.S. House District 3 primary on Tuesday, beating state Sen. Don Coram. Boebert is the current representative in the District.

Since her first days in Congress, Republican Rep. Lauren Boebert has not shied away from controversy. Her supporters cheer her media-grabbing moves — from the stylized video she released her first day in office touting her intention to carry her glock in D.C., to carrying a cardboard cutout of Vice President Kamala Harris around on a trip to the southern border.

Boebert is the owner of a gun-themed restaurant in Rifle and parlayed her support of the 2nd amendment, opposition to COVID restrictions and a Trump-like social media presence into a successful run for Congress. A staunch Trump supporter, Boebert has made inroads with that wing of the Republican party. She co-chairs the 2nd amendment caucus and is communications chair for the House Freedom Caucus.

I don't see a lot of future for her once the DOJ goes public.

She won the district by 26,000 votes in 2020 and was only a 10 point winner in the primary. It will be very difficult to unseat her in November.

All the familiar names that you know, have nothing to worry about in terms of getting re-elected. In fact, they Know their antics actually help them with their MORON constituents. They have that in common. Familiarity breeds contentment.

I really doubt it.

Wikipedia has a map of CO-3 before and after the 2022-23 redistricting.

But Boebert beat the Democrat by 25k votes last time.

If a few dems and independents are spurred to vote due to the insurrection and RvW and other important issues.
If a few republicans stay home because they are disgusted by this candidate.
If a few republicans vote Dem due to disgust for the candidate, the insurrection, etc..

Its not a clear easy win, but it surely doesnt look impossible to me.

I have family in Colorado and I know damn well none of them would vote for her. But it looks, like you said, that this district is in the more rural, less populated part of the state - more land, fewer people. But I still feel bad for anyone sane living there having to deal with this embarrassment.

The city who delivered her the most votes was Grande Junction, pop. 65,560.
The biggest city in the district, however, is Pueblo, pop. 111,876, which is 44% Hispanic and heavily unionized.
Granted, if much of the Latino vote is conservative, or there are too many non-voting undocumenteds, that could lower Pueblo's offsetting Grande Junction.
But if you add in the liberal ski towns like Aspen, she could be beaten.

Before anymore elections? Near as I can tell, nothing can happen once the elections are over unless dems have a super majority where repigs and the filibuster don't matter anymore.

Population 5.85 million. She got 74200 votes. That's 1.2 percent. Well into the 2nd derivative zone.
