On Fox News, a Mistrust of Pro-Obama Numbers Lasts Late Into the Night

Source: The New York Times

Karl Rove was incredulous. His colleagues at the Fox News decision desk had called Ohio for President Obama, a move he insisted just a few minutes earlier would be premature.

“We’ve got to be careful about calling this when we have 991 votes separating the candidates,” he scolded them. “I’d be very cautious about intruding into this process.”...

... And so ensued the most bizarre on-air encounter of election night: a network anchor interrogating Arnon Mishkin, a member of the Fox News decision team and a respected voting analyst, forcing him and a colleague to defend their news judgment against Mr. Rove, one of the most powerful Republican fund-raisers and strategists.

However odd, the exchange perfectly captured one of the persistent sources of strain between the media and Republicans throughout the presidential campaign. Ever skeptical of a media bias toward Democrats, conservatives complained repeatedly that polls this year were showing an erroneous and biased edge for Mr. Obama....

Kind of like Fox and the conservatives' view of reality.

(And by the way, only in Fox's world could someone like Karl Rove do Election Night network commentary.)

i'm no Nate Silver, but I think we can nudge that call from "probable" to "certain", don't you think? I mean, the statistical probability of Fox News suddenly changing their corporate DNA and behaving in a reasonable way towards President Obama is what mathematicians call "vanishingly small", I think. Math & statistics geeks, help me out here, amirite?

As a Wisconsinite, my only regret this morning is that Paul Ryan kept his seat in the House. So happy and proud of all the people in Wisconsin who worked so very hard to re-elect President Obama and send other Dems to Washington to help him keep this country moving forward. Huge thanks to everyone who worked so very hard so that the rest of us could wake up this morning and feel that the batcrap crazy segment of the Republican party, most notably in the form of Bachmann and West, has been reduced. Thank you to everyone who got out and voted, especially those who had to stand in line to have their voice heard.

The same slime thug that worked for w when he called brother Jeb in Florida when Florida was (correctly) called for Gore. Within minutes after that (organized crime) call to Jeb (in 2000), florida was deemed "too close to call. Then the "brooks brothers mafia" was sent to Florida to ensure that the votes were not counted. Their organized crime partners, led by SCOTUS "justice Scalia" then appointed a total idiot as our President. It is not too late to look backward and prosecute these criminals. President Obama doesn't have to worry about the blow back for his re-election now....please, lets clean-up politics, voting, citizens united (the SCOTUS criminals) and move to universal heath care. I am counting on you President Obama to become the man that candidate Obama was in 2008. I love ya and you can do this.

Ohio and Florida. Too close to call. Have to recount. Can't recount. The murkin peeples need their answer now. Enter the SC.

...and then suddenly more states were called for the the Prez, and suddenly he didn't need Ohio OR Florida! And it was SO OVER!!!!!!!!

but feared they'd drag it out trying.

I wasn't sure if Romney was writing his concession or refusing to concede. Then Rove started his babbling about too early to call.

But then the Prez was over 270 without Florida or Ohio added in....and any crap they may have tried to pull ended right then and there.

...Don't game the system unless you're prepared to experience public ridicule, or worse.

Personally, I think there should be a targetted investigation by the DOJ into the attempt to steal the Ohio vote. At best this will expose the actions of, and bring to justice Karl and his cronies; and at the least, it will greatly discourage anyone from engaging in these kind of criminal shenanigans in the first place.

Maybe Anonymous WAS working in the background thwarting every cyber act of malfeasance.

Or maybe Rove and Co. had their own technical problems which stalled their nefarious efforts.

Or maybe they switched what they THOUGHT was enough votes, but they miscalculated just how many more votes the President would receive.

Either way, those billionaires who gave millions that were promised the black mans head on a platter are going to be none to pleased with that greasy little pig

Nov 2012

The big news this morning is about Carl Rove and Fox news, but did anyone see CNN when they called Ohio for Obama? Last night I mainly watched the election coverage on MSNBC, but would switch over to Fox and CNN occasionally. Just after MSNBC called Ohio for Obama, I switched over to CNN. They were lagging re Ohio but called it about two or three minutes later. AND, they followed with shots of various crowds reacting to that call. CNN showed the crowds in the arena in Chicago, in Time Square, outside the White House and about a 5 second camera shot of a crowd in OMG...KENYA!!! What the hell! Even Fox News wasn't sinking that low!
