Texas' family services are 'on the brink of collapse' after requiring child abuse investigations

Source: CNN

(CNN)A court filing from 16 current and former employees of the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services, along with the Texas State Employees Union, says the agency is "on the brink of collapse" following the state's decision to investigate the gender-affirming care of minors as potential child abuse.

The brief cites a "string of departures" within the agency since the directive was put in place in February, arguing remaining workers will be spread dangerously thin.

The amicus curiae (Friend of the Court) brief was filed with the state's Third District Court of Appeals, which is considering whether the policy, prompted by an opinion from Attorney General Ken Paxton and ordered by Gov. Greg Abbott, was implemented legally. The governor and DFPS are appealing the March decision of a district court judge in Austin that put enforcement of the policy on hold. In May, the Texas Supreme Court ruled that DFPS could continue investigating families suspected of seeking out gender-affirming care while the case is appealed. At the time, DFPS confirmed that some nine families were under investigation.

As DFPS case workers quit, those remaining are forced to do more work, the court filing says. They further allege that the agency has been unable to meet its "baseline of care" for years, and that the state's policy on transgender children has "driven it to a new nadir." The filing also argues the directive was enacted illegally because the state did not go through the required formal process to create a new policy. The state has argued it did not need to do so because the directive is an interpretation of existing policies, not a new rule.

It's all they really care about, their incredibly punitive attitude toward everybody's genitals but their own.

and I'm sure you saw the thing about Utah secretly investigating to see if a girl who beat two others in some sport (I don't even recall just what the competition was) might be transgender, my question is: Just how many transgender people are there out there? Numbers? Or a percentage?

I personally know (or know that I know) two: one transgender woman, and one transgender man. I am quite delighted that I actually know them. I know them in the science fiction world I hang out in, which is VERY welcoming to those who are different.

Paxton and Abbott are attacking and threatening trans children for political points

https://www.texastribune.org/2022/03/11/texas-transgender-politics/?utm_campaign=trib-social-buttons&utm_source=twitter&utm_medium=social

Greg Abbott and Ken Paxton are turning the law-and-order Republican Party into a gang of bullies, targeting transgender kids — and the parents who support them — with their decision to treat gender-affirming health care as child abuse.

That health care is legal under Texas law, but this is election season. Cynics who think politicians will say anything to get reelected have a new, sparkling piece of evidence......

But most of those aren’t sexy election issues. Paxton is in a runoff. Abbott faces a well-known, well-financed Democrat in November. And as The Texas Tribune’s Patrick Svitek has reported, they think they’ve got a hot item to entice Republican voters.

“This is a winning issue,” Abbott’s top political strategist, Dave Carney, told reporters last week. “Texans have common sense.”....

“How is that considered child abuse to accept them and love them?” one mother told them. “How can they overstep their power and try to come and tell me how I should love my child?”

neglected by DFPS because they were required to chase some BS political policy designed to harass families that are different or harass children. How many of those kids were abused or even killed because Abbott et al wanted to score political points?

1. Inflict pain and misery and suffering upon trans youths and their family.

2. Tear apart DFPS, because as much as these childish snowflakes love to scream "SAVE THE CHILDREN!", they actually really hate children. It's why they don't care if they starve, or get shot in school. I'm sure they view child abuse (real child abuse) as "a means to toughen your kid up" or some sick Nazi shit.
