WASHINGTON (AP) Conservative activist Virginia Thomas, the wife of Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas, has agreed to participate in a voluntary interview with the House panel investigating the Jan. 6 insurrection, her lawyer said Wednesday.
Attorney Mark Paoletta said Thomas is eager to answer the committees questions to clear up any misconceptions about her work relating to the 2020 election. The committee has sought an interview with Thomas in an effort to know more about her role in trying to help former President Donald Trump overturn his election defeat. She contacted lawmakers in Arizona and Wisconsin as part of that effort.
The panel announced Wednesday that it will reconvene for a hearing on Sept. 28, likely the last in a series of hearings that began this summer. The hearing announcement comes as the committee is preparing to wrap up its work before the end of the year and is writing a final report laying out its findings about the U.S. Capitol insurrection.
Members of the committee had promised more hearings in September as they wrapped up the series of summer hearings. Wyoming Rep. Liz Cheney, the Republican vice chairwoman, said the committee has far more evidence to share with the American people and more to gather.

Somehow, since she's the spouse of a (marginal) Supreme Court Justice, she thinks she's the country's head Insurrectionist Karen.
Fuck her back to Omaha, Nebraska.

This woman leveraged her near-untouchable level of Washington's protective cloak to attempt to overthrow our government. I would imagine the evidence that J6 has already collected on her is quite damning. Should be easy to prove perjury if she tries to lie her way out of it.
Let's see how blind Lady Justice truly is. I'd love to know that Clarence Thomas gets to visit her in prison every month or so. It would be fun watching him enter the prison grounds. MSNBC could set up a permanent camera to catch each delicious moment.

(79 posts)Is this "voluntary interview" under oath? If not, then all lies. If so, then invoking the 5th over and over and over!

(5,841 posts)Bet she doesn't show up, they'll issue a subpoena, and she'll fight it. So much for voluntary cooperation.
Yes, lying to Congress is a crime. But if she does show up, she is smart enough to have seen how the J6 Committee uses "voluntary interviews" in public hearings, so I imagine a LOT of bullshit, if not outright refusing to answer their questions. She knows whatever she says can be used in a public hearing to her detriment, and that the DOJ will be watching. Hell, the DOJ will want a transcript anyway.

That kind of flies in the face of all the the reporting that she and Clarence more or less can finish each other's thoughts.
