Dr. Oz Reveals He Goes to 5th Avenue in Manhattan to See General Physician

Source: Daily Beast

Pennsylvania GOP Senate candidate Dr. Mehmet Oz released copies of his medical records on Friday in an attempt to keep questions about the health of his Democratic opponent John Fetterman front-and-center in the race.

And while Oz boasted that he was giving the state’s voters “full transparency” about his health, he also inadvertently revealed that he travels to Manhattan for his annual physical exams—once again drawing attention to his tenuous ties to Pennsylvania.

In a letter written by Dr. Rebecca Kurth, released by Oz’s camp, the physician said it “was a pleasure to see [Oz] for a check up on 9/22/22” before noting that he is in overall excellent health. The report also provided Oz’s basic vital signs, weight, and blood test results, which Kurth noted were all favorable.

The letter, though, also disclosed that Kurth’s office is located on Fifth Avenue in Manhattan, revealing that the celebrity TV doctor travels to New York City—in a ritzy neighborhood bordering Central Park, no less—to be examined by his primary physician.

Chris Christie: “I defend Dr. [Mehmet] Oz because he is a longtime New Jerseyan — problem is he’s running in Pennsylvania,” Christie quipped about the celebrity doctor’s chances against Pennsylvania Lt. Gov. John Fetterman.

and have a doctor in NYC, also on 5th Avenue right across from Central Park - so the “ritzy” area.

My cousin lived in a Philly suburb in PA and worked in Manhattan, she took the train every day.

Her H worked in Philly and they wanted one parent to be close to kids school in case of emergency, which is why they lived in Philly and not somewhere half way between their workplaces - like somewhere in Jersey.

It’s not that far from Philly to Manhattan.

It goes to the suspicion many have of Dr. Turkey, that if he gets in he'll do everything he can to rescind not only Obamacare - but also Medicare and Medicaid.

They're practically saying it out loud, as you know.

After all, it wouldn't affect his ability to see his Fifth Avenue physician (and his Sixth Avenue plastic surgeon, from the looks of it).

every day and would see the "NYC commuters" on my train in the morning (I would take the first train out around 6:11 am). They would get off at North Philadelphia Station and then walk over to the Amtrak platform to get on one of the trains headed north to Penn Station. I think the commute time was about 90 minutes or so.

But then SEPTA started cutting back service and kept making the first train out later and later and it would mess me up with my work start/end times, forcing me to always miss the afternoon trains so I was leaving out the house at 6 am and getting home maybe by 5 pm or later for a 13 mile 1-way trip. I eventually drove for the next couple decades and took no more than about 30 - 45 minutes (the latter if stuck in afternoon rush hour) to get home after that - usually sometime between about 4:15 pm and 4:30 pm. And when I stated carpooling and sharing the monthly parking, it was cheaper to drive (including cost of gas) than to buy a monthly trailpass.

Also used to have a boss who lived in D.C. metro and got a promotion working here but because her son was in high school at the time, she kept her house down there and did that 150 mile commute every day by train to here in Philly. I know I have driven it many times and the fastest that I could go without getting pulled over by the MD State Troopers and getting jammed up at the Ft. McHenry tolls or on the beltway, was like 2 1/2 hours. LOL

My father's side of the family is from NYC.

28 years ago I visited my youngest brother who was living in Philadelphia while his wife did her residency at Hahnemann Hospital.

We decided to pay my grandfather a visit in Weehawken NJ since he was getting fairly old at the time. Don't remember that being a short drive.

According to my map software it would take one over two hours to get there assuming the traffic doesn't change.

Seems odd to go that far since Philadelphia has pretty good medical facilities. But maybe I'm spoiled. I live within walking distance of my primary care doctor's office.

of people have doctors in Philly.
So many great healthcare institutions and physicians to choose from including CHOP, Penn, Pennsylvania Hospital, Jefferson, etc.
If you live in North Jersey, Manhattan is closer than Philly.

District and there are plenty of great doctors and medical centers here, but my dermatologist is in Manhattan. So I drive 300 miles RT to see her. I go to her because I like her.

I think the argument that he goes to a doctor in Manhattan is just stupid - especially when there are a gazillion other reason to not vote for him.

How will Oz respond? It really doesn't matter. What matters is what the people in Pennsylvania think.

that the doctor has opted out of all insurance companies, including Medicare, meaning they cannot bill nor can patients be reimbursed for their visit fees from Medicare. Nice for those who can afford it, but you cannot build a system on it.

In reality she seems heavily tied into Columbia (where Oz worked / taught) and may have been a long standing physician for him and/or a former student/resident.
