Twitter Tumbles as US Weighs Security Reviews for Musk Deals

Source: bloomberg

Biden administration officials are discussing whether the US should subject some of Elon Musk's ventures to national security reviews, including the deal for Twitter Inc. and SpaceX's Starlink satellite network, according to people familiar with the matter.

Twitter shares fell 5.1% as the market opened in New York on Friday.

US officials have grown uncomfortable over Musk's recent threat to stop supplying the Starlink satellite service to Ukraine -- he said it had cost him $80 million so far -- and what they see as his increasingly Russia-friendly stance following a series of tweets that outlined peace proposals favorable to President Vladimir Putin. They are also concerned by his plans to buy Twitter with a group of foreign investors.

The discussions are still at an early stage, the people familiar said on condition of anonymity. Officials in the US government and intelligence community are weighing what tools, if any, are available that would allow the federal government to review Musk's ventures.

Another article mention worries over a Saudi prince' 9 bil investment in the deal with musk, that worries me too.

from business insider: A Twitter user replied to a post about the Bloomberg article saying "it would be hysterical if the government stopped Elon from over paying for Twitter." Musk replied to the tweet with the "100" emoji and a rolling-on-the-floor-laughing emoji.

Twitter (as an impartial non-registered observer who does follow a few prominent users via their internet links). Apparently, the originator of Twitter (Jack Dorsey) and team are soon to release a new beta version app called Blue Sky that is being discussed:

to make people do things. I am not amused and will have to find something else. I have started to dump Handles there.
Hoping this new venture is not just for phones. Why do they just show a phone?

but I'd have to think they will have online presence just as Twitter did/does.

I never registered on Twitter as I said and I have some antipathy toward Jack Dorsey. But that pales for what I feel towards Zuckerberg, Musk, and of course, all the RW social media creators/purveyors. So, given his experience I hold some hopes for Dorsey to create something to "HELP" not "HURT" the current situation.

Same goes with the founders of Q'anon and the fact that they distribute child porn on the internet while accusing others of doing so.

Twitter (TWTR): The White House said reports that the Biden Administration was discussing putting Elon Musk’s ventures under a national security review were "not true." Twitter shares moved higher in extended trading on the news. Musk has until 5pm ET Friday to close the deal or face trial.
