Florida GOP Paid Thousands To Far-Right Charlottesville AttendeeThis discussion thread was locked as off-topic by Yonnie3 (a host of the Latest Breaking News forum). The Florida Republican Party paid thousands of dollars over the summer to a far-right activist who attended the white nationalist “Unite the Right” rally in 2017 and later charged at a crowd of anti-racist demonstrators with a Confederate flag. Christopher Monzón was paid more than $10,000 by the party between June and September, federal campaign finance records show. Neither Monzón nor the Florida GOP responded to HuffPost’s request for comment about the payments. Read more: https://www.yahoo.com/news/florida-gop-paid-thousands-far-192025969.html

1. Monzon......
The Cuban Confederate. Oh, that's rich. The thing they just don't get is that they're the ultimate tools. They'll never ever be the "in" crowd of the new "regime", no matter what they do. The far right doesn't work that way. It's a northern European club only. When will morons like Monzon, Tarrio and all the rest ever get that fact through their thick skulls.

2. Exactamente
Right-wing Latin American immigrants tend to be desperate for acceptance by those they see as the top of the totem pole.
Which for them, means being WASP and Republican. But as you pointed out, the sad irony here is that no Repug (certainly no Confederacy nut!) would ever accept them - at most only use them. |

3. They've been like this for generations now
I remember reading about the Cuban "Super-Patriots" in the 80's/70's.
That was a dumb label for them, as they have no idea what patriotism in the U.S. is. They'd like a dictator. |

5. +1
And what's worse, they presume to dictate U.S./Latin America policy - basically to exert their petty grudges against anything that sounds "leftist."
They also consider themselves the arbiters of what is or isn't "democratic" in the region - that's to say, Latin feudalism-with-a side of fascism. So naturally, the GOP was a good fit for them - especially today's GOP. |
