Republican House Oversight Committee disbands Subcommittee on Civil Rights and Civil Liberties
Source: The Hill
The Republican-controlled House Oversight and Accountability Committee has disbanded the Subcommittee on Civil Rights and Civil Liberties, which focused on issues including voting rights, freedom of assembly and criminal justice reform policies.
In a committee meeting on Tuesday, Chairman James Comer (R-Ky.) said this doesnt mean topics related to these issues cant be brought before the committee.
Let me be very clear: any topic thats not mentioned in the subcommittee jurisdiction is reserved for the full committee, Comer said. We can have a committee hearing in this committee on basically anything we want.
A spokesperson for the panel told The Hill that Oversight Republicans are realigning subcommittees to ensure the efficiency, effectiveness, and accountability of the federal government and all its agencies. Going forward, subcommittees will now be better equipped to meet our mission, identify problems, and propose meaningful legislative reforms for the American people.

(23,163 posts)If there's not going to be any civil liberties, then there's no need for a subcommittee on civil liberties....

(3,997 posts)Posted on another site is DeSatan's plan to de-fund any and all FL schools of funding of any 'woke' studies unless all such programs at all levels are eliminated. As if FL, next to last in teacher pay, needs any more teachers to flee the profession!
I do think he's far over-reached, just like the attacks on Disney, and the political pendulum will start to swing the other way. This will take time. One thing: as a FL resident now, I see/hear a lot about him. He has near zero charisma and fails badly at bringing in other R politicians to his fold. The media here has well noted his failure to build a coalition of fellow R's, unusual in either party. I believe this weakness (he only wants the spotlight on himself and disdains any fellow R from that light) will kill his ability to win the presidency.
