Former Wyoming GOP Rep. Liz Cheney is joining the University of Virginia's Center for Politics following her ouster from Congress by a Trump-backed candidate last year.

“I am delighted to be joining the UVA Center for Politics as a Professor of Practice. Preserving our constitutional republic is the most important work of our time, and our nation’s young people will play a crucial role in this effort," said Cheney.

"I look forward to working with students and colleagues at the Center to advance the important work they and others at the University of Virginia are doing to improve the health of democracy here and around the world."

I know--she is still a Republican. But she had courage to stand up and protect our democracy. For that, I will be forever grateful.

I had the misfortune of taking two undergrad economics courses under the tutelage of a professor who was a former student of Arthur Laffer, of Laffer Curve infamy. She would truck no disagreement with her worship of supply side economics. I took my gentleman’s ‘C’ in her microeconomics class and GTFO.

Virginia not a nut state for GOP comeback? Bush influence in Texas and Florida buried by now? Just thinking the education career is nice but she appears to me to be too driven not to see this as a future move.

an elected representative official when they don't move back to the area they represented when their term is up. Years ago my republican congressman never came back here and stayed in the DC area and worked as a lobbyist instead.
