House GOP votes to overturn Biden rule on water protections

Source: AP

WASHINGTON (AP) — The House on Thursday voted to overturn the Biden administration’s protections for thousands of small streams, wetlands and other waterways, advancing long-held Republican arguments that the regulations are an environmental overreach and burden to business.

The vote was 227-198 to overturn the rule.

House Republicans used the Congressional Review Act, which allows Congress to block recently enacted executive-branch regulations. The measure now heads to the Senate, where Republicans hope to attract Democratic senators wary of Biden's environmental policies. Sen. Joe Manchin, D-W.Va., a frequent Biden antagonist, has already pledged to support the overturn of a rule he calls federal overreach.

Biden said he would veto the measure if it reaches his desk.

Why does Biden exec orders get overturned when it didn’t seem like Dems had that option with Trump? I feel like we’re always on the losing end.

It's not "overturned". The House of Representatives doesn't run the legislative show. It is one chamber. You need two to tango. And even if there are enough to do it in the Senate, neither chamber would have enough (2/3rd) to override a veto.

The end.

Oh and remember that Democrats did not take over the House until after the 2018 election (so starting in 2019 until losing it again in 2022) and didn't take the Senate until after the 2020 election (so starting in 2021 after 45 was out of office).

Isn’t that precious. Don’t want to irritate billionaires by insisting they fix what they break. Next onerous burden will be to nicely ask CEOs of train companies to fix their fucking breaks. Can you imagine the horrors of being a CEO in America and only getting multimillion dollar Christmas bonuses for their outstanding contributions to the industry.

for the plant and animal life but focus more on swaying the people that like to hunt and fish.
If you sway them it helps undercut the Republican politicians that oppose such protections because corporate America who has them in their back pocket isn't in favor of such protections.
