Former Trump campaign official cooperating with special counsel in 2020 election interference probe
Source: CNN
Former Donald Trump campaign official Mike Roman is cooperating with prosecutors from special counsel Jack Smiths team in the ongoing criminal probe related to efforts to overturn the 2020 election, two sources familiar with the matter told CNN.
One of the sources said that the agreement, known as a proffer agreement, means that Roman may not have to appear before the grand jury but could instead speak to prosecutors in a more informal setting. Under such an agreement, prosecutors generally agree not to use those statements against them in future criminal proceedings.
Roman, who received a grand jury subpoena months ago and had his phone seized, was involved in efforts to put forward slates of fake Trump electors following the 2020 election.

The New York Times previously reported that Roman was in talks with prosecutors about a potential proffer agreement.

(8,553 posts)and I think that's the reason the DOJ declined to prosecute on the contempt of Congress charge...insignificant when sedition, treason, obstruction were looming large (I understand Meadows knows a little something about Trump's stolen documents debacle)... as for Rudy, I seem to recall Trump refusing to pay Rudy's bill..that's gotta hurt...
Am I the only one struck by the number of Trump's January 6 inner circle suddenly racing to the DOJ, offering to exchange their testimony for limited immunity?...Trump's January 6 lawyers have to know Trump ain't walking away from this one...

Seems like decisions are being made. Tell the truth about what happened under these conditions, or
. whatever the choice was Jack Smith offered them.

Couldn't help noticing that every "defense strategy" trump touches dies, too. And that poor schmuck with him - his "body man" (?) who's been having a hard time finding a lawyer? Well, he could have gotten out of there and sung for his supper, too. There's loyalty and then there's complete blind idiocy. Maybe it's too late for him? Wonder what trump promised him to get him to stick around?
