The man who almost crashed in a helicopter with Donald Trump told POLITICO Trump confused him with former San Francisco Mayor Willie Brown — despite the former president’s repeated insistence it was Brown.

It was Nate Holden, 95, a former city councilman and state senator from Los Angeles, who said in an exclusive interview late Friday that he remembers the near-death experience well. He and others believe it happened sometime in 1990.

“Willie is the short Black guy living in San Francisco,” Holden said. “I’m a tall Black guy living in Los Angeles.

“I guess we all look alike,” Holden told POLITICO, letting out a loud laugh.

I don't know what math you're doing, but this makes perfect sense if you're familiar with how human memory functions (or dysfunctions in Trump's case)

He's lost three employees in a helicopter crash. He remembers an actual helicopter safety hiccup in his own past and he remembers there was a black politician in the chopper with him. He's also obsessed with Kamala Harris and thus fixated on Willie Brown's history with her. Plus he routinely objectifies women and sexualizes them in his twisted little fevered imagination.

The best explanation is that Trump has conflated all these facts in his little bone spurs brain and associates one black pol with every other and imagines there was gossip about the rival he's fixated on.

15. The Jerry Brown/Newsom flight was incident-free. It was just people's best guess as to what Trump was referring to

and now there's a better candidate for "what Trump started out with, and has embellished and blustered about". On this, Barbara Res (a Trump employee) had already written

“Very shortly thereafter the pilot let us know he had lost some instruments and we would need to make an emergency landing,” she wrote. “By now, the helicopter was shaking like crazy.”
After considerable turbulence, they landed safely in New Jersey at an airport where Trump had his commuter helicopters stored.

Res confirms Holden was on the flight, and no Brown - Willy or Jerry. It was in the 1990s (they think 1990, but aren't sure). Too early for Newsom, as well.
