Geitner should go to jail and Pfc Manning freed. The conservatives think otherwise. YOu be the judge.

no doubt.

We knew long ago why Barofsky wasn't destined to last.

“We’re either going to have criminal or civil charges against individuals or we’re going to have a report,” Barofsky says. “This is too important for us not to share our findings.”

He won’t say whether the investigation is targeting Geithner personally.

at the end of the debt limit mess. But Obama talked him into staying. Election year politics were already getting well under way. I don't think he's sweating anybody or anything coming at him from the Obama DOJ. Or even Congress at this point. Nope. $190,000 a year in his current position. If he's needing to 'earn' to pay tuition for his kids, most Americans must find it utterly out of reach. Salary and severance payments since he took the Sec of Treasury gig- $1,195,000. Nearly 300K a year. Poor, poor Timmy!

when I lived in Washington it was common for folks to go back and forth between the private/public center. Also I expect Geitner has money anyway because his pedigree is pretty spiffy (Dartmouth & Johns Hopkins - those are not cheapo state schools like I went to) ...

I'm just happy to see him go personally.

I work at HUD and have worked here for many years. There were two difference agency heads for each of Reagan's terms, for Bush's term, two for Clinton's term, and THREE for Bush II's term. I wouldn't be at all surprised if my current agency head, Shaun Donovan, isn't here either after Obama's first term, whether he's reelected or not.

Still, this is welcome news for many but not earth shattering in terms of what typically happens in the Executive Branch.

He should quit now if he really wants to help Obama. This declaration only makes conservatives that much more leery of the president---and Big Business that much more likely to give SuperPac money to the GOP for fear that the second term Obama will adopt more anti-business policies.

Geithner is poison.

If Obama holds true to form and replaces him with another bankster, this will end up being a "meh" piece of news as we'll get more of the same or similar. If he sticks to his new 99% populist rhetoric and replaces him with an Elizabeth Warren type Treasury Secretary, this will indeed be beyond outstanding news. Time will tell.
