Ticketmaster's inaugural goof

The event ticket behemoth was supposed to put tickets on sale for President Barack Obama’s inauguration on Monday but accidentally opened up purchasing on Sunday evening.

The company had to apologize to the site’s users.

“During testing of our email system tonight, you may have inadvertently received an invitation to purchase tickets for 2013 inauguration events, including the Inaugural Ball or the Inaugural Parade,” Ticketmaster said.

“Public tickets to these events were originally scheduled to go on sale tomorrow morning — you received the email tonight in error, and Ticketmaster takes responsibility for this mistake. However, a significant number of public tickets were purchased this evening, despite the early email. Ticketmaster will be in touch with any additional information. All public tickets are first-come, first-served, including those sold tonight. There is no guarantee that you will be able to purchase a ticket at any time. Thank you for your understanding.”

1. This isn't their first time doing this on major events...

It's happend to at least one PGA event and SEVERAL big-name, high-demand concerts.

Ticketmaster is the biggest racked in the music industry.

The whole ticketing industry is long overdue for an overhaul to take the complicity with the ticket agencies out of the equation and put the tickets back in the hands of the consumers.

It was when I asked for a refund. Went smooth.

But it was because they gave me a ticket to a concert on a different date and in a different city than I asked for. I missed the concert because of them.
