Kozachik: No more gun shows at Tucson Convention Center
Source: Arizona Daily Star (Tucson)
Gun shows could be a thing of the past at the Tucson Convention Center if
Councilman Steve Kozachik gets his way.
Kozachik wants to prohibit gun shows on city-owned property until either
the state legislature or the U.S. Congress passes a bill requiring
background checks on all gun sales.
Continuing to allow person-to-person gun sales without the requirement
of any background checks is a clear threat to the health and safety of
the community. If any place has a right to be sensitive about that,
Tucson does, Kozachik said.
Its my belief, and Im hearing it daily now, that we should take a leadership
position in saying no to gun shows on public property until the state or the
feds fix the clear gap in the law that allows people to buy weapons without
the seller having any knowledge of who they are or what their background is.

(2,436 posts)Is your husband on the rolls? Have you done anything meaningful to erase (and I mean any influence of) his influence?
In todays AZ republic newspaper , section two : Tucson gets its gangster on .Celebrating John Dillinger , picture with gun-toting D. actor included .
THIS IS SICKENING !!!
No wonder we have all this violence , making heroes out of criminals and murderers .
This culture of gun worship MUST BE STOPPED NOW !!!

(10,597 posts)... Dayam, I have to start a list of all the progress that is being made on all fronts in the U.S. these days. The Chief of Police up in Waterbury, CT did the same thing... at least he's not signing any event permits from gun shows until further notice. But this is Tucson, AZ! Yeah and double back flips!

(13,877 posts)impressive and politically powerful re-election of President Obama. It's almost like whole same-old-same-old wave was ready to swing back to the right, but lo and behold ... to quote Gomer Pyle ... surprise, surprise surprise.
I first noticed it (not counting Rove's public meltdown) when Orly Taitz gave up her witch hunt...the birthers almost disappeared...the gun conversation actually came up for real...gay rights...lots of "small" things", but in our voter way we said definitively, Please proceed, Mr. President. Glad we stayed the course.

(5 posts)Hi everyone - I'm a DU progressive & I work in Councilman Kozachik's district. He just announced this week that he has officially put in his paperwork to become a Dem. from a Rep. He's the real deal folks - he has been lambasted by Frank Antenori locally (a Rep. who just lost his legislative seat) for working with Dems. Mr. K is embraced by local Progressives (I know that AZ has a bad rep BUT Raul Grijalva, is MY Congressman from Tucson!!). Councilman K is one of the good guys - for real.
