LePage swears, storms out of meeting with independent House members, lawmakers say

Source: Bangor (Maine) News

AUGUSTA, Maine — Gov. Paul LePage swore, pounded a table and stormed out of a meeting with three independent House members last week, according to the lawmakers. The trio said they hoped to talk to the governor about alternate approaches to balancing the state budget. Instead, the lawmakers said the governor called them “idiots” and again railed against Maine’s public schools.

He raised his hands over his head, then pounded the table, Brooks said.

“‘You guys, you’re idiots and you’re just as bad if not worse than those other guys,’” LePage said, according to Brooks. “I assumed that he was talking about the Democrats.”

“He went right through the roof when I asked him the question,” Evangelos said. “He flew up like a jack-in-the-box and ran out of the room and slammed the door.”

and if you knew more about Maine you would be more thoughtful about your remarks ... you sound like an idiot when you pontificate like that! It happened because we had an independent candidate and a dem who could not reach an accommodation with each other ... either could have easily won, if one or the other would have dropped out and endorsed the other ... they each stubbornly stood their ground and handed it to this asshat

Why voters in the United States put up with a system where a candidate can theoretically win with only 38% of the vote is mind-boggling.

I don't thinkthat the Maine Dems will allow another situation of our vote being so divided that he can sneak in with 39% again. I think that the entire Maine State Democratic Party has a HUGE hard on for this jag off.

PEACE!

...my mom lived to almost 85. My father is 88, so I expect that I'll be here for awhile.

My family and I moved into our house last September and I'm not moving out until the undertaker carries me out. This is a great town. It's also a pretty Democratic town. Some suggestions for you (or anyone else) for great places to eat in town are Mia Lina Pizza, Pete's Roast Beef, Tubby's, Winthrop House of Pizza and Sully's.

PEACE!

Guv 38%, please, please just go away...

"We are not doing the service that the voters sent us down here to do.”

It's not your fault, Mr. Rep. The voters didn't send Gov. LePage to "help" you. At least 62% of us voted against him.

At least now he's getting more of the publicity he deserves...nothing like an insider's look at the goings on.

I trust Joe, he has a lot of integrity.

In 2006, he ran in a primary for the state House, and Winterport misreported the results and he was declared the winner. He looked over the returns and found the error and reported it himself, even though it cost him the race.

The wingnuts are already accusing the representatives of lying about this, but I'd trust Joe's word over LePage's any time.
