Poll: Texas Voters Have Had Enough Of Rick Perry

Source: TPM

His approval rating in the gutter, Texas Gov. Rick Perry (R) approaches 2014 with a large majority of his contituents indicating they'd prefer if he didn't seek another term, according to a survey from Democratic-leaning Public Policy Polling released Tuesday.

Fifty-four percent of Lone Star State voters said they disapprove of the job Perry is doing as governor, while 41 percent said they approve. A larger majority, 62 percent, said Perry should not seek re-election next year compared with just 31 percent who said he should.

A vast majority of his constituents are also sour on Perry's aspirations for higher office. Seventy-nine percent of Texas voters, including 66 percent of Republicans, said Perry should not run for president in 2016. Perry said last month that he has no regrets over a tumultuous White House bid in the previous cycle that was notable for a number of cringe-inducing moments. He has said repeatedly that he is open to launching another presidential campaign in four years.

We will be able to win the state someday but 2014 is to early. I think the first time we will have a realistic chance will be in 2018.

I think, most speculation is that Mayor Julian Castro would be the best bet to get a dem in. But fear the votes just not their, all the Reps need is a cray guy to spew nonsense, like look a brown wants to lead you.

We do not want Perry to go away ...... We need his stupidity in the race. With Palin in the history books ..... where are we going to get our laughs from? I know there are many in the republican party that can replace Palin's stupidity .... such as Bachmann but come on guys ..... Perry is in a class of his own.

because Karl Rove was also responsible for Perry's rise.
He was responsible in getting Perry to leave the Democratic Party and running for the State Agriculture Commissioner back in 1990.
Rove carefully planned his career, and when Mr. U became President, Perry, as Lt. Gov, took over.

But they had a falling out (no one actually know why), and Perry went rogue, turning his back on Mr. U and Rove.
