Texas prosecutor gunned down; manhunt for 2 suspects

Source: USA Today

A manhunt was underway for two suspects after an assistant district attorney was gunned down Thursday outside a courthouse in Kaufman, Texas.

The prosecutor was shot five times around 9 a.m. local time outside the Kaufman County Courthouse, ambushed while getting out of his car, KDFW-TV is reporting.

Sheriff David Byrnes said the killing was an attack on the criminal justice system."This is the next level (of crime)," he said.

The Dallas Morning News is reporting that "authorities with knowledge of the assistant DA's caseload say he had been heavily involved in the investigation of members of the Aryan Brotherhood."

time watching the Aryan Brotherhood and less time watching peace activists, environmental and animal rights activists, we might be a little safer. I know, the aryan brotherhood hasn't be accused yet, but just saying. IMHO!

The Dallas Morning News, citing unidentified officials with knowledge of Hasse's caseload, reported that he was "heavily involved" with the prosecution, and that officials were looking into his work for clues.

In the Aryan Brotherhood of Texas case, Ben Christian Dillon, aka “Tuff,” 40, of Houston, and James Marshall Meldrum, aka “Dirty,” 40, of Dallas, pleaded guilty in a Southern District of Texas court on Thursday. Each faces a maximum of life in prison.

"According to court documents, Dillon, Meldrum and other ABT [Aryan Brotherhood of Texas] gang members and associates agreed to commit multiple acts of murder, robbery, arson, kidnapping and narcotics trafficking on behalf of the ABT gang," the Justice Department said in its release.

then they just royally fucked up. Killing a DA is guaranteed to get every local, state and federal law enforcement agency out to destroy you.
I dearly hope that the Aryan Brotherhood is completely and utterly destroyed whether or not they are involved it this.
They are a domestic terrorist org. and should be treated as such.

Dallas DA announced someone has been arrested... but Kaufman officials who just held a news conference are saying they don't know anything about an arrest.

Please, Dallas officials, I've read that he was a former Dallas official but DON'T screw this up by jumping ahead with any news that may screw up the arrest or any other upcoming arrests...let the Kaufman officials take the lead and let them make announcements when THEY see fit. Yes, we all want to know who did it, but for all we know there may be a reason Kaufman officials have not announced it (especially since there were TWO suspects, maybe they are trying to flush the other one out)

No info on who was taken into custody yet.

Watching the 4pm news now and a reporter who is doing a live shot from Kaufman is saying that Kaufman officials again say no arrest yet so the Dallas DA may not be doing anyone any favors here by possibly sharing info that Kaufman doesn't want to share yet perhaps.

Kaufman official on camera addressing the shooters: "we are going to find you, we are going to pull you out of whatever hole you are in, and we are going to let the people of Kaufman County prosecute you to the fullest extent of the law"

Dallas DA: "We have been aware that an arrest has been made, I can't go into the case"...

Kaufman officials just said that they a spoke with Dallas DA by phone after he made his announcement, then the Dallas DA told them "oops, I was given incorrect information"..he thinks he got information about another case that happened today where there was a standoff with some other criminals involved in a theft/breakin and "thought" it was information about the shooter being taken into custody.

Not adding up...sounds more like the Kaufman officials made a "STFU" call to Dallas DA.

The FBI is working the case and they have extensive files and contacts within the Aryan Brotherhood. Sometimes information of enough value can make an arrest disappear like magic.

If it were even suspected the person trading tit-for-tat with the police had done so, they'd be a dead man walking. If this is the case and the Dallas DA's error was that of the loose lip nature, they may well still not live long enough to enjoy the benefits of their exchange with the FBI.
