BREAKING: West Point Announces That Islamophobic General Has Withdrawn From Prayer Breakfast

BREAKING: West Point Announces That Islamophobic General Has Withdrawn From Prayer Breakfast
By Faiz Shakir on Jan 30, 2012 at 6:35 pm

Just four days after ThinkProgress reported that the United States military academy at West Point was planning to host an Islamophobic general as its featured speaker at the National Prayer Breakfast, that general has now pulled out the event. West Point just issued this news release:

LTG (Ret) William Boykin has decided to withdraw speaking at West Point’s National Prayer Breakfast on 8 February 2012. In fulfilling its commitment to the community, the United States Military Academy will feature another speaker for the event.

I still worry about Colorado Springs and bits and pieces of the Pentagon.

I hope that exposure caused him to withdraw.

what does one pray for at a "prayer breakfast"? Maybe that the bacon and sausage are not undercooked?

religious rant. In uniform, from a pulpit.

What idiot invited that asshole in the first place? That moron who picked this jerk needs "orders home" IMO.

I suspect that he didn't really withdraw, I suspect that he was "uninvited" the second an adult in charge realized who the hell he was, and they gave him the courtesy of allowing him to act like it was his idea, when in fact he was rebuffed.

I told them I was a ONCE PROUD member of the military and a voluntee3r veteran of Vietnam. We supposedly were one nation under god at that time, and 50 thousand American lives were destroyed in pursuit of the NOTHING we "won" in the end. I confessed that I DO wear some denim shorts that originate there.

does the military academy have a damn clue about the 1st amendment? if their military members want to hold a prayer event/meal they should do so on private establishments not on government property.
