U.S. and China Agree to Hold Regular Talks on Hacking

WASHINGTON — The United States and China have agreed to hold regular, high-level talks on how to set standards of behavior for cybersecurity and commercial espionage, the first diplomatic effort to defuse the tensions over what the United States says is a daily barrage of computer break-ins and theft of corporate and government secrets.

The talks will begin in July. Next Friday, President Obama and President Xi Jinping of China, who took office this spring, are scheduled to hold an unusual, informal summit meeting in Rancho Mirage, Calif., that could set the tone for their relationship and help them confront chronic tensions like the nuclear threat from North Korea.

American officials say they do not expect the process to immediately yield a significant reduction in the daily intrusions from China. The head of the United States Cyber Command and director of the National Security Agency, Gen. Keith B. Alexander, has said the attacks have resulted in the “greatest transfer of wealth in history.” Hackers have stolen a variety of secrets, including negotiating strategies and schematics for next-generation fighter jets and gas pipeline control systems.

Nonetheless, a senior American official involved in the negotiations to hold regular meetings said in an interview on Friday that “we need to get some norms and rules.”

USA: Stop hacking us.
China: We're not hacking you.
USA: We have proof you are.
China: No you don't.
USA: Yes, we do. *Produces evidence*
China: That's all fabricated.
USA: No, it's not. *Explains why it could not be fabricated*
China: Ok, so what if we are. What are you going to do about it, huh ?
USA: *Blusters*
China: *Blusters back*

These are the people who think that The Onion is real news.

Let's feed them some shit--like how we've turned the Empire State Building into a transformer, or the partial schematic to our TIME MACHINE....

And we can tell them we got the idea from ... THE GERMANS!!!

2. China

Has the US by the balls and they know it.

The US knows it to - It's why we haven't taken severe action against China for it.

Anyway, This isn't going to amount to anything. What actions could we take against China to punish them for these attacks? I mean, seriously - If we could have done anything in response, we would have already done so.

Anyway, where are the majority of computer components made? China. We've pretty much given them the keys to the house - We, really, have no right to be angry about them deciding to let themselves in.

As long as US tech companies are willing to outsource to China, China will never stop it's cyberattacks.

You know how start solving this problem? Punish the US companies who are, quite frankly, providing assistance to a foreign aggressor.
