(33,246 posts)I'd almost forgot that Americans live in constant danger of stochastic firearm violence.
Lately, it seems that children have been doing the bulk of the shooting, not disaffected, possibly mentally ill men.
I'm glad no one was killed this time. May the victims fully heal.

I haven't seen any workable proposals. How about taxing the sale of weapons to fund better mental health services? That might be a start. How about providing free mental health counseling to all gun owners?

One person was dead and five hospitalized after a gunman opened fire on the campus of Santa Monica College, a hospital official said.
Of the five still hospitalized at a pair of UCLA Medical Center hospitals, one victim remained in an operating room in what was considered very critical condition with a gunshot wound to the head, said the official, Dr. Marshall Morgan, UCLA Medical Center's chief of emergency medicine.
A suspect was in custody, California Highway Patrol Sgt. Denise Josline said. She could not provide a name or description of the suspect.

Authorities were searching for a possible second shooter out of an abundance of caution. This was part of protocol in active shooter situations, but authorities also received a call that an armed subject was seen on campus after police had a suspect in custody.
Police were investigating whether a nearby arson incident was related to the shooting. Two people were found dead in that house fire, according to the Los Angeles Fire Department.
