English Defence League rally bomb plotters jailed

Six men from the West Midlands have been jailed for up to 19-and-a-half years each for planning to bomb an English Defence League rally.
Omar Khan, Jewel Uddin, Mohammed Hasseen, Mohammed Saud, Zohaib Ahmed and Anzal Hussain had all admitted terrorism offences in April.
Five of the men took a bomb, knives and sawn-off shotguns to the rally.
But the plotters arrived after the EDL event - held last June in Dewsbury, West Yorkshire - had ended.

The EDL can be a bunch of noxious shits, but this is some serious escalation. The judge didn't play, either. They're doing a fair stretch.

(1,113 posts)This could have ended so badly but for the fact that these men miscalculated the time of the EDL event. Note this happened last year, well before the young british serviceman was killed.

(5,715 posts)He would have been caught eventually anyway, but he was driving on the highway without the plate and was spotted by a cop. Who knows what other mayhem he could have done had he not been nabbed so quickly. From what I've seen, there isn't a lot of thinking done by the rank and file terrorist when it comes to what happens after they commit their crimes.
