Hillary Clinton announces new charitable agenda at family’s foundation

Source: Washington Post

Hillary Clinton, making her first major public appearance since stepping down as secretary of state five months ago, announced here Thursday that she would join her family’s charitable foundation and champion children’s and women’s issues as well as economic development.

Commenting extensively on domestic issues for the first time since joining the Obama administration in 2009, Clinton decried the current state of early childhood development and opportunities for women in the workplace, as well as America’s decaying communities, both urban and rural. She pledged to work within the foundation to bridge the interests of government and private industries, both in the United States and abroad, to advance these issues.

“This can’t just be a conversation about Washington; we all need to do our part,” Clinton said. “We have to prove again to ourselves, as well as to the rest of the world, that our public and private sectors can work together to find common ground for the common good.”

The Clinton Foundation has been renamed the Bill, Hillary and Chelsea Clinton Foundation, signifying the growing role of Hillary Clinton and daughter Chelsea in the foundation former President Bill Clinton founded a decade ago.

Why this thread is still open while the thread with the ongoing conversation and multiple posts got locked?

If it is about timing... They both were posted "yesterday" is all I can see. If anything I would have supported a lock based on this bit being LBN... But not for duplicate.

Just curious.
