McCaskill Lends Support to Group Urging 2016 Clinton Run

Source: ny times

Senator Claire McCaskill, a Missouri Democrat and one of Barack Obama’s first backers in the Senate in his bitter presidential primary fight against Hillary Rodham Clinton, threw her support on Tuesday to the political action committee pressing Mrs. Clinton to run for president.

“In 2008, I was an early supporter of then-Senator Obama’s campaign,” Ms. McCaskill said in a statement on the Ready for Hillary Web site. “I worked my heart out to elect him president. Now as I look at 2016 and think about who is best to lead this country forward, I’m proud to announce that I am Ready for Hillary.”

The unusual declaration was not as much a presidential endorsement of Mrs. Clinton, but an endorsement of a “super PAC” encouraging her to run. It was the first such endorsement by a sitting member of Congress, the group said.

“Hillary Clinton had to give up her political operation while she was making us proud, representing us around the world as an incredible secretary of state, and that’s why Ready for Hillary is so critical,” Ms. McCaskill said in a statement released by the group. “It’s important that we start early, building a grass-roots army from the ground up, and effectively using the tools of the Internet — all things that President Obama did so successfully — so that if Hillary does decide to run, we’ll be ready to help her win.”

We don't need another round of Clinton center right policies
in America. It's time to put the old political dynasties
away and embrace the next generation.

Hillary is NOW qualified for the job, but seriously, do we really want
to go there ?

We don't need another status quo candidate. We need a candidate who will work to reform to system - not one who will continue it.

I could go for Kucinich/Sanders myself.

chance in hell of winning because they are not part of the status quo. Too many people still fall for the status quo candidates so we'll continue to get more of the same until people wake up to the corruption.

She was on her second term as Senator, Obama was on his second year, so I wouldn't go there if I were you.

When she really needed her endorsement in 2008 she went with Obama because, according to her, her daughter told her to do so. Same with Pelosi "praying" for Hillary to run in 2016. What was she doing in 2008? Twisting the arms of super delegates to switch to Obama even in states that Hillary had won. Aside from telling any reporter who was willing to hear her that it would be a bad mistake for Obama to choose Hillary as his VP.

A couple of hypocrites, screw them both.

Between 2008 and now, namely the fact that Hillary was making such a lurch to the right, including telling people to vote for her "friend" John MCcain, that what little hope we progressives had would have been gone, and then the votes would have been weak. Yes, Obama has imitated Clinton's mistakes, much to our anger, but that does not change the fact that the country did not want four more years of Clinton style hippie punching.

I beg to differ. Hillary won more votes from registered Democrats than Obama did. Although he did have a small pledged delegate advantage from the caucuses.

BTW, she never told anyone to vote for McCain. What she said was that McCain and she had years of experience, while Obama didn't. Quite accurate, in my opinion. She meant that she would be better prepared to do battle against McCain.

Which, to be fair, Hillary also has lots of experience destroying the left as well. Her politics were not that far removed from McCain.

Experience does not always equal desirable results, and for all we know, Hillary experience at foreign policy meant she would be busy at war with Iran right now, or finding the way to actually privatize Social Security.

There will certainly be no coronation among the Democrats. I'd much prefer Joe Biden, or countless others...

She already said she is not running, so why are these people trying to embarrass her?
