House passes far-reaching anti-abortion bill

Source: AP

WASHINGTON — The Republican-led House has passed a far-reaching anti-abortion bill, giving conservatives a claim to progress in their campaign against legal abortions and Democrats another reason to claim that the Republican agenda is anti-women.

The measure to restrict abortions to the first 20 weeks after conception has no future in the Democratic-led Senate and the White House has issued a veto threat. But it could still exert influence, both in next year's GOP primaries and in future court battles challenging the 1973 Supreme Court decision affirming a woman's right to end a pregnancy.

The House bill mirrors 20-week abortion bans laws passed by some 10 states. Most states allow abortions up to when a fetus becomes viable, generally considered to be around 24 weeks after conception.

The bill passed 228-196.

fruitless effort. These buffoons are really testing my patience, I want to go on a shin kicking campaign. Just kick the shit out of those morons.

They can't possibly focus on issues that might actually help people, nope they have to meddle in things already ruled on by SCOTUS. Damn dummies it's time for them to go. Cruz, Paul, Ryan, Rubio, Bohner, Stockman, Gohmert, Massie, Raydel, & the rest of the American Taliban.

(don't correct me of whose house or senate I don't care they I are evil & have the same jacked up agenda)

Republicans are not just spitting in the wind on this bill. The real purpose is to energize the Christian right for the 2013 state and 2014 federal elections.

I'll happily trade 'energizing' the Christian Right for energizing Women to vote against Republicans.

Given this sends the wrong message to all but the far right they make me think the Democrats whispered in their ears that they only needed the far right to win. And like good dummies they believed it.
Or aren't the Democrats smart enough to lead the Republicans into a dead end?

Here's the deal:

The anti-choice crowd doesn’t get it. Their “leaders” don’t give a rat’s ass about abortion. What is desired is the Holy Grail: a pool of cheap labor with no unions, no labor laws (example that schmuck Rick Scott’s nasty little signing of that bill yesterday), etc.

Compound that with defunding of things like the CDC, etc. and you have a real humdinger return to the real good old days.
