AG Swallow welcomes investigation by lawmakers

SALT LAKE CITY (AP) — Utah Attorney General John Swallow says he welcomes an investigation by lawmakers into the allegations that have dogged him since he assumed office in January.

House Republicans voted to launch the investigation on Wednesday toward the end of a three-hour caucus meeting. Legislators spent the meeting discussing the legal ins and outs of a possible impeachment, but ultimately stopped short of taking that dramatic step. Saying they wanted more information about what Swallow has actually done, the legislators opted for the fact-finding mission.

Later Wednesday afternoon, a smiling Swallow emerged from his office to speak to reporters. He said he welcomed the investigation by lawmakers and called it "good news."

"I think they got it right today, where they decided that it wasn't time yet to start any serious discussion about impeachment," Swallow said. "They simply need answers."

When only Republicans decide whether he needs to be impeached, you already know the outcome. The Dems were shut out of the process.

Utah politics as we have all been forced to accept. If you are a graduate of BYU, hence Mormon, and a Repug, all is fair. It goes straight to the top. There is so much corruption in this state it boggles the mind. Yet the sheep continue to elect the same R's, because their Mommy & Daddy did.
