Minuteman U.S. border watch co-founder arrested on child sex charges
Source: Reuters
(Reuters) - The co-founder of the Minutemen civilian border patrol group that for several years watched for unauthorized immigrants crossing to Arizona from Mexico, was arrested on Wednesday on suspicion of molesting three young girls.
Chris Simcox, 52, who co-founded the Minuteman Civil Defense Corps in 2005, was booked into a Maricopa County jail in connection with the molestation of three girls under the age of 10, said Sergeant Tommy Thompson, a Phoenix police spokesman.
Detectives with the department's Family Investigations Bureau developed "probable cause" that Simcox had sexual conduct with the girls during the past several months, Thompson said. No other details were immediately available.

The Minuteman Civil Defense Corps political action committee, whose mission is to find and support political candidates to secure Americas borders, raised more than $300,000 in the first three months of this year but gave less than 3 percent of it to any political campaign. . . .
The PACs honorary chairman, Chris Simcox, president and co-founder of the Minuteman Civil Defense Corps (MCDC), has been the target of criticism for nearly a year over what current and former MCDC leaders, members and others have described as a lack of financial accountability. . . .
Several MCDC officials were let go last month by Mr. Simcox after they requested a meeting and asked that financial information be turned over. Members of the MCDC Leadership Committee said long-standing requests for the information had gone unanswered, that Minuteman chapters were not getting the tools and resources they had been promised, and that reimbursements for out-of-pocket expenditures were not made in a timely manner, if at all.
They also sought a full explanation of the relationship between MCDC and other groups, including the Minuteman PAC and Herndon-based tax-exempt charitable organizations known as Declaration Alliance and Declaration Foundation, founded and chaired by former presidential candidate Alan Keyes.

(5,044 posts)Not only is this going to be a "barn burner" in Arizona, the Republican party is going to take heat nationally for this. Good. Let's hope and pray that those children he brutalized are surrounded by their family and receiving all the counseling that they need.

(8,515 posts)The division and hate is so predominate now. That there will be some press..The teabag party will condemn his action, claim he is one sick man out of tens of thousands who believe in strong border protection and move on from there..
Hopefully the ones who moderate between center and right might be influenced by this scumbags
crimes.. But I doubt few will..

(160,424 posts)I had been expecting him to injure, mangle, devastate, or murder one or more people he found trying to come across the border, which would have been a little bit of heaven on earth for such a right-wing lunatic, treating them as if they were criminals and he a pompous, goody two shoes, arrogant, holier than thou, self-appointed, self-righteous vigilante enforcer.

What a shame there was no one there to protect these children from this "man". Learning he was a kindergarten teacher is the last thing in the world you'd want to hear. Someone should look into that part of his life, as well. Jesus H. Christ.

(9,221 posts)tells her own story of terror and physical violence...
(From a 2005 article)
"The scene was little better between Simcox and his second wife, Kim Dunbar. She filed for full custody of their son "because she feared that Simcox had suffered a mental breakdown and was dangerous," says the SPLC story.
In sworn affidavits, Dunbar testified that Simcox would fly into sudden and violent rages during their marriage. "He once took a knife from the kitchen and threatened to kill himself," she said. "When he was angry, he broke furniture, car windows, he banged his head against the wall repeatedly and punched things."
When their son was 4 years old, Dunbar said, Simcox slapped him with such force that the marks lasted for two days. And she reported grabbing her boy and jumping out the window another time, because Simcox was heaving furniture at them.
Her husband always emerged morose from his outbursts: "He would stare at walls, mumbling to himself," she told the court. At one time, she reportedly tried to have him hospitalized, but he rejected all professional help. Finally, she said, "the only thing I could do was file for divorce."

He went off the deep end after 9/11. Details in same link above. That's when he moved to AZ. And get this - he "raided" his son's college fund to buy the Tombstone Tumbleweed! Loser. But he sounds seriously mentally unstable/undiagnosed with something. Those poor kids.
Just please please PLEASE - don't let him near any more kids.
