Obama 'confused George Osborne with R&B star'

Source: BBC

US President Barack Obama repeatedly addressed Chancellor George Osborne as Jeffrey during the recent G8 summit, according to the Sun newspaper.

Mr Obama is a fan of soul singer and musician Jeffrey Osborne, who enjoyed success in the 1980s with hits such as On The Wings of Love and Love Power.

Mr Osborne chaired a session of world leaders on tax transparency during the two-day event in Northern Ireland.

Treasury officials told the newspaper that Mr Obama did know the chancellor's name, and had called him George when they first met at the two-day event.

I reckon the president owes Jeffrey Osborne an apology for confusing him with that toad!

Like his predecessor did. I couldn't make this up if I tried: Bush TELLS men they are attractive.

Here's a reprint of the original, from the Toronto Globe and Mail:

Bush prefers our pretty boy to his pretty boy

by Jane Taber
Toronto Globe and Mail

This is the tale of the two Scotts -- one American, the other Canadian. One is dark-haired, the other blond. Both are 35 and both work for the most powerful men in their respective countries.

SNIP...

"Well, what do you do for this guy?" the President asked as he pointed to the Prime Minister.

"Well, you know, sir, I can't really say," Mr. Reid said. "It's not that I don't want to. It's just that, you know, I don't really know from day to day."

This is true. Mr. Reid handles a number of files and performs a number of different duties, depending on the issue and the day.

The President chuckled. "Well, you got a pretty face," he told the surprised Mr. Reid. He wasn't done. "You got a pretty face," he said again. "You're a good-looking guy. Better looking than my Scott anyway."

Osborne was the oldest and most sensible of four brothers. At St Paul's, his cosmopolitan London secondary school, "He was a bit of a swot and unusually grown up," says Ganesh. At 14, he changed his first name to George: "I couldn't think of anyone who I liked or who was successful who was called Gideon," he told the London Evening Standard in 2005.

I don't think the name change helped, Gideon. We still don't like you, and you have not been a success as chancellor.
