That’s three titles for a town and two crowns for its king.

With a season, a playoffs, an NBA Finals and a Game 7 that will echo for years to come, the Heat defeated the San Antonio Spurs 95-88 on Thursday night at AmericanAirlines Arena to win its second NBA championship in a row and cap the most exciting two weeks in South Florida sports history.

LeBron James played stunning, brilliant basketball to earn the NBA Finals MVP for the second straight year and Dwyane Wade, who played throughout the playoffs despite knee problems, saved his best for the final game of a grueling postseason. James finished with 37 points, 12 rebounds and four assists, going 12 of 23 from the field, 5 of 10 from three-point range and 8 of 8 from the free-throw line. Wade had 232 points, 10 rebounds and an assist, making 11 of his 21 attempts.

To repeat as champions, the Heat had to win back-to-back games for the first time since Game 1 of the Eastern Conference finals. Miami won Game 7s in back-to-back series, providing South Florida with one of the exhilarating rides professional sports can offer.

Meanwhile, no word on an arrest warrant for Aaron Hernandez, which is why there was no OJ Simpson White Bronco moment tonight.

And as LeBron said in his postgame interview, his haters can just SHUT UP.

Game 6: 32/11/10
Game 7: 37/12/4

And he completely shut down Tony Parker on defense!

He's entered another realm of greatness.

I wish I bet some coworkers. I would have made a few bucks. Oh well. I bet my friend a drink. So he owes me next time we go out.

I knew Miami had the momentum after they won the last game. SA should have won that.

EVERYTHING on the court in this series. Quite possibly the best Finals of my lifetime. Spurs shouldn't have coughed up Game 6... that's where they lost the series. Well, on to next year and a healthy Rose for the Bulls!

I think L. James and D. Wade are both class acts. As are the Heat and Spurs organizations. Great series!

Both teams were amazing throughout these 7 games. But Miami was extra amazing last night. They were very aggressive on defense and James and Wade just kept making their shots when the Spurs went cold. Good to see a finals where you know these are the 2 best teams, but Miami was just a bit better. Congratulations to them.

He is a class act all the way---actually the whole Spurs team is.

A lot of folks give my team a hard time--- but I gotta tell you---I've watched them quite a bit the last couple of years and they to are very classy. LeBron F'ed up with the way he left Cleveland... and he certainly knows it. But I think he has more than made up for it since.

Great series and a blast to watch.

I'm no BB expert or superfan (I basically just watch the playoffs every year), but I watched the way Miami handled this series and was impressed with their team effort as opposed to showboating individuals. That's what I like so much about the Spurs. It's not about "look at me", it's about doing whatever it takes to make the team successful. Miami displayed that kind of attitude also in this series. Wade continued to play great and score even though you could tell he was really hurting physically. Miami earned it.

Used to be, basketball was played in the winter. Happy summer solstice.
