Rusty the Red Panda Has Been Caught in Adams Morgan

Source: Washington City Paper

Rusty, the red panda who was reported missing from the National Zoo this afternoon, has been caught.

City Paper intern Dan Singer reports from the scene at the 1900 block of Biltmore Street NW that Rusty has been found by employees of the National Zoo, the Humane Society, and the Metropolitan Police Department and is now en route back to the zoo. (The zoo confirmed the news on Twitter.)

Singer says Rusty appeared to be in a tree close to a rowhouse's roof. Rusty was caught in a net before being placed in a crate.

Thing is, I wouldn't attempt it anymore than I would with a wild raccoon. Chances are, he would claw your ass UP.

For you outside-the-Beltway types, Adams Morgan is the coolest neighborhood in DC, and one of the coolest in all the land.

after severe flooding brought on by climate change. Forty Days of Rain or one of its sequels.

Many of them went feral and terrorized residents of Northwest who were already pretty much wiped out (no Metro, etc.)

Next time you *escape* go to 'Smoke and Barrel' -- see if Eric is there, if he is: tell him Raine sent you -- and be prepared for GREAT beer.

Anther great place is the Black Squirrel.

One of the many popular hangouts in Adams Morgan. I don't blame him. It's a hot, steamy afternoon here in the DMV. I wanted to escape my office and hang out somewhere fun like Adams Morgan, too!

The Red Panda exhibit is wonderful at the Nat'l Zoo. Oh heck, everything is wonderful. They found him in front of a friends house in A/M.

Glad they got him before he experienced "Jumbo Slice".

I used to live in Woodley Park and as I recall the Adams Morgan neighborhood was a bit of a trek from there, especially if you're a Red Panda.

on edit: Well, after looking at a map, maybe not. My perception was a bit off, because Adams Morgan seemed a bit of a trek from my old place, but it seems the Zoo borders that neighborhood ... My bad ... That was years ago ...
