Eight killed in bloody weekend in Baltimore

Source: Baltimore Sun

Juanita Walker stood just steps from where her son was killed two days earlier and addressed a crowd of at least 100 people, sobbing and yelling to be heard.

"Y'all young people, you think because you're young that it might not be your time," she told the crowd at a candlelight vigil Sunday for Andre Witherspoon, 27. She said she spoke to her son 20 minutes before he was shot, just after 1 p.m. Friday in the 900 block of Ducatel St. in the Reservoir Hill neighborhood.

"We all get caught up. The environment told him, tricked him, made him believe that he had to go this way," she said. "My heart is heavy because I know he got four kids."

At least 20 people were shot in 12 incidents across the city from Friday afternoon through early Monday morning. Eight of those people — two women and six men — were killed.

that many Americans can't be trusted with a firearm. Therefore, to save such people from themselves, and protect the rest of us, we need stricter gun laws. Period.

City's never sleep.
The way to solve this problem is through education. Not more laws, not more police. More teachers, more schools, more community involvement. People dont aspire to be criminals ,to be in shootouts,to serve time in prison. They have no other choice. they are exluded from society. There are no more unskilled jobs because we shipped them all to China, and Vietnam. No more small factiries who supported the larger factories. No more local businesses to cater to the people who worked for the small factories that supported the large factories. They are gone. Boarded up Burned down rubble. Just poor people live where there is nothing else. The young men are frustrated and angry. Its hard to grow up in poverty. To have little, and worried by the time you are 8 years old. On top of your other teenage issues its more than anyone can handle.
These kids suffer from PTSD by the time they are 16 years old.
This is all so that we can buy tires for 65 dollars. Nike shoes for 29 dollars. A kayak in Wallmart for 129 dollars. Thats why they are killing one another in Baltimore.
Wait till it catches up with the rest of us.

When a sub-culture worships the fictional hero Scarface and gangsta rappers then you will get alot of macho foolshness especially when excess guns, drugs and money are combined.
More money is needed for community foot police, mentoring programs, gun confiscation and after-school programs.
