Police: Gunman in camouflage near Glen Helen

Source: WHIO TV

YELLOW SPRINGS —

A man with a gun wearing camouflage was spotted in Glen Helen Nature Preserve at approximately 11:30a.m. Thursday, according to a spokeswoman for Antioch College.

The college is currently on lock down until further notice while authorities search for the man. According to a witness at the nature center, the camouflaged man approached a dorm and when asked to leave by a counselor, the man displayed a gun.

According to the Antioch College web site, the school hosts Ecocamps for kids ages 5 to 15 during the summer.

The Greene County Sheriff’s office and several other agencies are actively searching for the man near the Glen Helen Education Center on Ohio State Route 343.

For the record, this is likely nothing. Yellow Springs is bordered by several nature preserves, and this guy is probably a hunter, albeit perhaps a bit confused one.

But...

OHMIGOD!!! ANTIOCH COLLEGE has become a POLICE STATE! Any moment now, I expect students and faculty to begin hurling objects through doors and windows, spitting on The Man, taunting The Pigs, culminating in a mass protest against the Jackbooted Thugs who are depriving them of their freedom of movement. If ANYONE will stand up to these SS tactics, it's the fine students at Antioch. Trust me on this.

So far, though, my sources tell me that all is calm. I am losing my faith in the Left. Am I simply being impatient, or have they been cowed by the Corporatist Elite, lulled into some Authoritarian-induced stupor? THIS CANNOT BE THE AMERICA I LOVE!

But since you know the area, you also know that it's chock-full of yahoos in camos playing soldier. Didn't know that about hunting season, but not at all surprised that one of the locals wouldn't care.

The dorms, as you likely know, are just across the path from the Glen.

Can't tell you how many times I've encountered gun-toting morons both in the Glen and in John Bryan. There's minimal park police presence and an abundance of Greene County trash.

and it is called poaching, which is the same as hunting animals out of season.
