John Boehner: No Debt Ceiling Hike Without Spending Cuts

Source: Huffington Post

House Speaker John Boehner (R-Ohio) said Tuesday that the House would not vote to raise the debt ceiling without spending cuts, setting up a potential fight with President Barack Obama and congressional Democrats.

"We're not going to raise the debt ceiling without real cuts in spending. It's as simple as that," he said at a press conference.

"I believe the so-called Boehner Rule is the right formula for getting that done," he said, referring to the notion that any increase in the statutory debt limit should be accompanied by an equivalent amount of spending cuts.

The White House has insisted that President Barack Obama will not negotiate over the debt limit, which until 2011 both parties in Congress had raised without linking it to spending cuts. In 2011, House Republicans used the threat of the looming debt limit to negotiate the package of spending cuts known as sequestration. In January, the House voted to suspend the debt limit until May without concessions.

Fuckers are feasting on king crab legs--not just crab legs, but KING crab legs--while the MIC starves. And don't forget how Main Street stuck it to Wall Street in the bailout! If greedy American labor wasn't so pushy about a livable wage, his party wouldn't have had to give tax breaks to corporations for outsourcing in the first place. So if you want the debt ceiling raised, for ANYTHING other than the poor (whom Jesus himself condemned), you better be willing to starve and/or kill every last one of them mother fuckers. [can't directly quote the not-so esteemed speaker on any of that, but I can pretty-much attribute it to him]

Let me guess: Boehner has no real ideas, and expects Obama to provide 'leadership'. By which he means, have the President propose to cut programs dear to the Democratic Party Base, strong arm his party members into supporting same, and let the repubs help pass these cuts with a minimum of support. Then turn around and Blame Obama for 'destroying medicare and social security'.

Maybe they can even get Obama to propose defunding Obamacare! Oh, the amazing thoughts that must come to Boehner after a 5th of cheap bourbon....

When he told Congress they need to provide fiscal stimulus for job creation and grow the economy. The recently concluded G20 summit in Russia delivered the same general message. So instead of listening to either, Boehner goes out on a limb by himself carrying the saw with him. This cannot have a good ending for America.

As in: All appropriation bills must begin in the US House. Not a dime of this money that is needed to keep us from defaulting on our debt and perhaps causing a bigger financial crisis than Bush/Cheney managed would be out there if the Boehner-led House hadn't appropriated it. Time for the Prez to play chicken, and see if they get run down like Newt did when he tried it.
