More charges for NY man in X-ray weapon case
By Associated Press 3:18 p.m.Jan. 17, 2014

ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) — An upstate New York man accused of trying to build an X-ray weapon to hurt and kill people at a mosque and an Islamic center faces additional weapons charges.

Federal prosecutors unsealed an indictment late Thursday against Glendon Scott Crawford, charging the 49-year-old man with conspiracy to use a weapon of mass destruction, distributing information related to such weapons and attempting to produce a device to endanger people by releasing radiation.

Crawford and Eric Feight have been jailed since their arrest in June on charges they assembled a mobile X-ray device meant to be used in the greater Albany area to sicken Muslims and enemies of Israel. Authorities say the device was inoperable. Nobody was hurt.

Crawford's attorney declined to comment Friday.

That's what his friends call him. He never liked Glendon. I've known him since we were 5 years old. We were even room mates for a couple years back in the 80s.

I've felt awful about this. I completely ended all contact with him back before the 2008 election, because it was clear he'd gone completely off the rails.

I blame it on the church he joined. One of those completely independent unaffiliated ones. This is all on Scott, but they poisoned his mind. All that church does is preach politics and hatred. They should never have been allowed to call it a church.

Might not hurt to let somebody know what you know.

Too many knows, I know.

I'm also certain everyone's been on their very best behavior since his arrest.

I'm sure this isn't what you would have envisioned for his future when you were both 5 years old. Wow.

Glad to hear you weren't affected by the same undertow which took him down. What a waste of a life.

We were inseparable. I feel like, if I hadn't cut him off, I could have been a voice of reason. It bothers me quite a bit, but the people who attend the mosque he was targeting are also my neighbors, and I can't forgive that.

I still feel terrible for the abuse his kids will have to endure. Who knows what got poured into their minds in that house. It's very sad.

X-rays lose their power by the square of distance between the source and target plus the scatter is so great that it will take a whole mirror/lens assembly about 10 feet long to focus.

In addition, it will need a huge power source - 440 3Phase 500 Amps which will require a big rig generator to make it mobile.

Lastly, even if the above could be accomplished, they will have to hold the aim for 15 minutes on a moving target to cause any measurable damage.

These people believe in Sci-Fi too much.
