Quentin Tarantino sues website over leaked script

Source: AP-Excite

By ANTHONY McCARTNEY

LOS ANGELES (AP) - Quentin Tarantino sued the news and gossip website Gawker on Monday over a post that directed readers to a leaked copy of the Oscar-winning screenwriter's latest movie.

Tarantino's lawsuit accuses Gawker Media LLC of contributory copyright infringement for posting a link to the 146-page script for a planned film titled "The Hateful Eight" last week. A link to the script was posted on Gawker's Defamer blog and remained active Monday afternoon, despite demands from Tarantino's lawyers to take it down, the lawsuit states.

"There was nothing newsworthy or journalistic about Gawker Media facilitating and encouraging the public's violation of (Tarantino's) copyright in the screenplay, and it's conduct will not shield Gawker Media from liability for their unlawful activity," the lawsuit states.

Gawker Editor-in-Chief John Cook said the company would fight the lawsuit and pointed out that the company was being sued for posting a link to the script, not the actual document.

FULL story at link.

learn about that script.

He needs to take better care of his scripts. Usually each one is unique in some fashion, so that if it gets stolen and copied, they can figure out where it came from.

Where Schutltz is explaining the story of Brunhilde for one.

And I pretty much laughed myself stupid when the clan rider-like guys screw up their hoods, and then get blown up.

Sukiyaki Western Django is a Japanese Western directed by Takashi Miike. Tarentino co-stars in it. Oddly as the only character who speaks Japanese in the entire film.

all actors he trusted and was considering giving parts to. One of them apparently violated his trust.

I think he was VERY careful about his script.

I know a guy who used to work for a company that provided drivers for film crews. He used to find scripts in the vehicles all the time--he gathered up quite a collection; some of them were from some pretty neat pictures.

Let me guess:

Retro hip music intro. Blood. Gore. More retro hip music. Dancing. Blood. Blood. Gore. Mexican stand-off. Blood. Retro hip music. Roll credits.

Where's my Oscar?

We pretty much saw all Tarantino can do, with "Reservoir Dogs." An excellent film. One thing he continually does very well, is build suspense. He studied Hitchcock well, and has remained relevant as a result.
