Celia Israel wins House District 50 runoff

AUSTIN -- Democrat Celia Israel has been elected a Texas state representative for House District 50 in a special runoff election.
With all precincts reporting, Israel led Republican Mike VanDeWalle with 59.65 percent of the votes. VanDeWalle received 40.35 percent of the votes.

(111,944 posts)I wondered how that election would turn out since the polling locations at school buildings were closed due to the weather. It was great that they went to a vote at any open location policy to make up for the fact that so many locations were impacted.

(14,723 posts)This is a special election to fill in the position. Both candidates are going to run in the regular election but Ms. Israel will win again.
