Stockman walks out of State of the Union
Source: The Hill
Rep. Steve Stockman (R-Texas) said Tuesday night that he left President Obama's State of the Union speech early after "hearing how the president is further abusing his Constitutional powers."
"I could not bear to watch as he continued to cross the clearly-defined boundaries of the Constitutional separation of powers," Stockman said in a press release shortly after Obama's speech ended. "Needless to say, I am deeply disappointed in the tone and content of tonight's address."
Stockman said Obama was promising to "break his oath of office and begin enacting his own brand of law through executive decree."
"This is a wholesale violation of his oath of office and a disqualifying offense," the Texas congressman said.

But Stockman is all right with Ted Nugent threatening the president. Stockman rewarded Nugent with a seat at the SOTU last year after Nugent's controversial May 2012 "dead or in jail" comment.

(70,073 posts)....The Tea Party-backed congressman had missed weeks of House votes and hadn't been campaigning in Texas for his race against Sen. John Cornyn (R-Texas). After tweeting that people could "find out Monday" where he'd been, Stockman resurfaced this Monday to say he'd been on a House-sanctioned international trip and blasting reports saying he had been missing.

(39,215 posts)installations that are located in Texas. There are many we do not even know about. An example: I am enrolled in DirectExpress which is a Fed bank that holds a lot of the Social Security money - it is located in Texas.
By the way my question re DirectExpress is why is my social security money not located in an account close to where I live. I, and I assume many others, am not interested in bumping up the economy in Texas while my state has a perfectly good Fed in Minneapolis.
Ironically all the workers at these Texas installations will benefit from President Obama's government pay raises. So they get to bite the hand that feeds them and get paid for it.

(15,774 posts)and the SCOTUS upholding it, it will take a few sticks of dynamite to blow them out of their seats. I think, however, they lite the fuse last July when they passed those abortion laws. Really pissed off the women of Texas. Look for the women getting more involved and doing some heavy duty cleaning.

(9,350 posts)Democrats, including President Obama, need to push back against this idea that President Obama is disregarding the Constitution by threatening to issue executive orders. Last night during the CBS coverage of the SOTU it was pointed out that one would have to go back to Grover Cleveland to find a President who issued fewer executive orders than President Obama. Put another way, Presidents George W. Bush and Ronald Reagan issued more executive orders than President Obama.

(1,782 posts)I get my entertainment from right-wing talk radio, trying to understand how the other side thinks.
Right-wing talk radio is remarkable for its lack of specificity. "Constitution, Constitution, Constitution." "We are the side that respects the Constitution." "With all these executive orders Obama is violating the Constitution." These things are repeated over and over, never supported. They never explain *how* they support the Constitution and we don't. They never say *how* the use of executive orders violates separation of powers. The president's job is to run the executive branch of government. One tool he uses in doing that is executive orders. There is nothing wrong with that.
It's almost as if these talkers *want* their listeners to stop thinking.
