(62,269 posts)It is starting to sound like the worst case scenario of Putin attacking areas with ethnic Ukrainian or Tartar's is about to be tested. Best he just avoid them. This will be more and more difficult as he marches north.

RT and Ria Novosti are reporting, supposedly, that many Crimean-based soldiers are quitting. No idea if there's any truth to that. I'm quite confident Putin will invade eastern Ukraine.

Conscripts will be called to come, when 'the order comes'," she says.

(37,457 posts)Reuters - Russia's border guard service said on Sunday some 675,000 Ukrainians had left for Russia in January-February this year and that there were signs of a "humanitarian catastrophe", Russian state news agency Itar-Tass said.
"If 'revolutionary chaos' in Ukraine continues, hundreds of thousands of refugees will flow into bordering Russian regions," Tass quoted the service as saying.

In the north of Crimea, at Armyansk on the Isthmus of Perekop, the BBC saw what appeared to be Russian soldiers digging trenches. The isthmus is strategically vital as it joins Crimea to the rest of Ukraine.
