Lab tests show oil in Lac-Mégantic crash was as volatile as gasoline
Source: The Canadian Press
The Transportation Safety Board says formal lab tests confirm the train that crashed and exploded in Lac-Mégantic, Que., last summer was carrying oil that was more volatile than advertised.
The board, which had discovered last September that the tankers were misidentified, says it was actually as flammable as gasoline.
The board took oil samples from nine tank cars that were intact after the crash and subjected them to a rigorous analysis.
The samples were consistent a light, sweet crude oil, with volatility comparable to that of a condensate or gasoline product.

The freight train was designated "MMA 2" and was 4,701 ft (1,433 m) long and weighed 10,287 tonnes (10,125 long tons; 11,339 short tons).[3][4] The train was composed of five head-end locomotives, one remote-control "VB" car (a former caboose) used to house the Locotrol equipment necessary for MMAs single engineer train operation, one loaded box car used as a buffer car followed by 72 non-pressure dangerous goods DOT-111 tank cars[18] loaded with petroleum crude oil (Class 3, UN 1267). Each tank car was filled with 113,000 litres (25,000 imp gal; 30,000 US gal) of crude oil.[19][20][21]

(11,014 posts)in the US, if a false document results in someone's death, it would be criminally negligent homicide and depending upon how ferocious a prosecutor wants to be, they can haul the persons responsible to court on charges of second degree murder.

They are still studying it.
It has taken about eight months to come up with IBP's, RVP's and all, that happen on a continuous basis in a refinery.

A typical Conservative government cave in. Don't think that it will work too well in the coming Quebec independence referendum.
