Ralph Reed: Making divorce harder for women is a ‘better solution’ than food stamps
By David Edwards
Tuesday, March 18, 2014 9:28 EDT

Faith and Freedom Coalition founder Ralph Reed on Tuesday said that it was becoming too easy for women with children to get a divorce from their husbands.

In an interview with MSNBC’s Morning Joe to push his latest book, Reed asserted that the national debt was connected to the decline in the nation’s morality.

Host Mika Brzezinski wondered why Reed had compared divorce to drug use, human trafficking and legalized gambling to prove the country was in decline.

“I personally think the no-fault divorce revolution in the 60s and 70s has not been good for society,” Reed explained. “Certainly, I recognize that couples are not going to be able to stay together. That’s been true throughout society, but do we really want to make it easier for a man to discard the wife of his youth than it is for him to fire his secretary, for him to basically go in and say goodbye when 40 percent of all child support is never paid?”

Too many of your "good Xtian men" become all too eager to discard the Mrs. at the first wrinkle if they have the money and prestige to get a newer model.

Ignorant piece of shit.

There are restrictions to a 'no fault' divorce. Might want to look up some FACTS before letting everyone know how ignorant you are.

Ralph Reed and his crazy religious nonsense convinced me to change my political views. Any party that could include this idiot was not for me. Of course Reagan had something to do with it also.I've been a Democrat since 1982 even though my family voted Repub since John C Fremont ran for president in 1856... a long run, but it was over for me mainly because of Ralph Reed.

...for triggering ideological epiphanies. He is transparently phony, corrupt, self-serving, and non-spiritual, exploiting wedge issues at every turn, distorting religion, and generating false equivalencies as a means of lining his pockets. That anyone might find him credible is astounding.

You know he just said divorce is not the guy's fault here. And as such, you need a higher standard for a woman w/ children to exit a marriage.

I know full well he's a crook who uses quasi-moralistic themes to line his pockets, but repeat false equivalency alone should have landed him in the slammer for life.

...To recap, Ralph Reed worked for team Abramoff by mobilizing Christians opposed to gambling to shutter casinos. The only hitch: Reed was usually paid by other casinos who had a financial interest in eliminating their competitors. Therefore, Abramoff needed to find a way to make Reed comfortable, and to protect him against critics and the likely fury of his own Christian followers--who might have been upset if they had discovered that Reed was being paid by gamblers to do their bidding. The solution: Abramoff laundered the Indian casino payoffs to Reed by routing them through other organizations, including Grover Norquist's Americans for Tax Reform and a phony "think tank" in Rehoboth Beach, MD, run by a life guard and a yoga instructor who were friends of Abramoff's pal, Mike Scanlon. Details of this can be found in my film, Casino Jack and the United States of Money...

But, no. Instead the Democratic guy who opposed him -- Don Siegelman -- is in prison.

due to economic reasons. While separated (15 years) he tortured her and their kids by giving her barely enough money to survive and stay warm in a cabin with nothing but wood heat. He drops by occasionally to cause trouble and there's nothing she can do because he is friends with the cops in that county and they ignore her restraining orders or don't even grant them. He's thinking about running for office.

Maybe she should have just dropped him and tried to make it on her own. She couldn't find employment in the remote place she lives. But I think she should have divorced him and tortured him with alimony demands ( only to be ignored, no doubt.)

In short, Ralph Reed is an idiot.

My sister temped for his stupid org in Georgia years ago. They were all in the break room cracking up over "ebonics". They had been doing an outreach to black churches and were highly amused at the way one preacher talked, and were having a high old time imitating him. Racist pieces of redneck shit, that's all they are.
